Upton has his own thread, but I think Reynolds deserves one as well. Reynolds has been on a complete tear recently. Yes, he strikes out a lot, but he has fantastic gap power and is a surprisingly solid fielder. I kept reading and hearing reports that Reynolds was awful in the field. He has been nothing but spectacular so far.

Let's look at his numbers:

.287, 9HR, 41 RBI in just 238 at bats.

That's 237 less at bats than Byrnes - for example. (Byrnes has exactly double the amount of AB's.) I know that this is not really accurate at all, but If you were to multiply Reynolds's numbers by 2, He'd be hitting:

.287, 18HR, 82RBI in the same amount of AB's as Bynes. Again, I know that the projected numbers are basically pointless - but it's interesting to look at.

Reynolds basically came out of nowhere. He was a decently rated prospect but I don't think anyone expected him to contribute as much as he has. Here's to 10 more years of Upton, Reynolds, and Young. (The untouchables IMO.) Tracy may have just lost his job.

If MR ends the game of waiting for Tracy, I will be so happy.

I agree.... he came in on fire, slumped, readjusted and now is just playing solid baseball.

People on here were saying he was a defensive liability but he has been awesome in the field. He's made some plays and hasn't made any glaring boneheaded moves that I have seen

Let's look at his numbers:

FLD% @ 3B: .952

ZR @ 3B: .732

RF @ 3B: 2.29

Fielding WS/1000 Inn: 2.4

These are all very low relative to the league 3B. Maybe you've just seen all the good games?

I still don't think he's our 3B of the future, but he's been solid so far this year. Much rather have him playing than C-Tracy.

Yeah, I like him out there more than I do Tracy. I still can't get a read on how good he'll be.

Reynolds plays 3rd base like a 2nd baseman. He's got good hands and nimble feet, but he doesn't have the sheer reactionary instincts to play the position like a great 3rd baseman. He doesn't have the great arm to make a throw from deep baseline to first, but then there aren't many who stay there who do. I don't think the D-Backs would suffer much if he stays there, though. He's plenty good enough and he's got just enough power to justify playing a corner position.

So if Hudson isn't re-signed by the D'backs, Reynolds could be considered as our next everyday 2B. He's played the position before.

Adding his RBI capability at 2B would be like having Jeff Kent or Ryne Sandberg. That's a real plus for a team.

I still want to see Bonifacio at 2nd.
281 117 491 74 138 18 3 2 35 168 34 94 40 11 .328 .342 .670
Avg. is down and strikes out a lot, but I love 40 SB.
He's on the 40 man roster, but with the drive to win the division I doubt we get to see him often.

Those are pretty horrid numbers. OPS of .670. Ouch. Speed is overrated, especially if you can't hit.

What is Bonifacio's current K-to-BB ratio? I know it's still way upside down.

Don't think Reynolds would appreciate any nickname with a K in it. He's already collecting a K about every 3 at-bats.

I think nicknames should be reserved for guys who've finished one whole season in the bigs, anyway.
