Why?

No on campus stadium. Minimal student interest. A succession of bad HC hires. i.e. Coker/Shannon/Golden/Richt. They don't get the 4/5 * kids from South Florida and have lost the recruiting battles.Their last success was 2001. Running out of money paying fired coaches. They are well on the way to becoming a doormat in the ACC. Wealthy alums donate money to the arts and medical programs, not football. As a private institution they cannot compete $$$$$ wide with the tax supported University system. U of F, FSU, UCF, USF, all have an edge. Miami will have to take a risk on an up and coming non power conference HC and hope for the best. It will be a long slow process and the BOT and AD are never pro active. They will wait the process out to the last moment and settle. The 48th ranked recruiting class has already begun bailing out. The ACC is tiring of Miami not carrying their load when it comes to revenue sharing. The other ACC schools have to travel minimally 800 miles to play in Miami Gardens Hard Rock Stadium where Miami has a not so friendly stadium rental plan with the Dolphins.
