The Athletic named Paul Goldschmidt as their Least Valuable Player in the NL this season. How did he lose it so quickly at 36? His career high 177 OPS+ 2 years ago shriveled to a career-low 95 this year. Is it time for him to retire?

His slash line this year - .241/.299/.406 for a .705 OPS. About the same that Josh Bell had when Miami waived him.

Yes...he should retire or - return to the DBacks for a swan song farewell tour as DH/1B in 2025. But he really belongs in St. Louis - where old ballplayers go to die under the MO and OliPad regime. St. Louis is a once proud franchise turned to dust by MO Mozeliak as the GM.

Only 7 players batted over .300 this season, with a 8th possible with a good day.

Only 12 player with at least 100 RBIs, with 5 or so more possible after today.

Only 4 players over 40 HRs with 3 sitting at 39.

For NL
Otani is 1st in HRs, 2nd in average and 1st in RBIs. He has a legit shot at the triple crown with a .310 average.

Marte is 4th in HRs, 6th in average and 10th in RBIs.

Is this a down year overall for offense or are we starting to see the end of the super stars and seeing more well rounded teams?

MLB announced it will produce and distribute Guardians, Twins and Brewers games next season. They join the Padres, Diamondbacks and Rockies, who are also under MLB’s umbrella. The Rangers decided not to go with Diamond Sports Group and are considering local media options.

The World Series between the Dodgers and Yankees is sold out and there are no tickets under $1,000 on the secondary market. This is the cheapest single ticket for each game:
Game 1: $1,007
Game 2: $1,073
Game 3: $1,302
Game 4: $1,102
Game 5: $1,187
Game 6: $1,276
Game 7: $1,275

I paid 300 bucks for my ticket last year. I did hear that tickets in Arlington were very expensive but not sure they were up to that level. MLB got their dream matchup. I haven't watched any of the playoffs this year.

This is really tragic for a team already operating on a show string budget. Probably going to have to play 2 years at a grapefruit league stadium.

If Walker leaves we should be talking to them about Yandy Diaz.

The season may be over but the Los Angeles Dodgers are still keeping the surgeons busy; The Dodgers announce that RHP Brusdar Graterol had right shoulder labrum surgery Nov. 14. He’s expected to return to the mound in the second half of the 2025 regular season.

Nick Martinez is accepting the Reds' qualifying offer of $21.05M, per sources. The final deadline to accept QO is Tuesday, November 19 (4 PM ET). Martinez has a 3.31 ERA since returning from Japan in 2022 and was the NL Pitcher of the Month in September.

Right-hander Deivi Garcia and the Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a minor league deal, sources tell ESPN. Garcia, 25, was at one point a top prospect with the New York Yankees. His stuff still grades out very well, and Milwaukee has become a haven for pitching reclamations.
