Man, I know this is probably not going to happen, but I hope Morris turns into another Kevin Love. I have never seen this much hate towards a new player on this board. I really hope the kid makes it big in this league.

how quickly you forget... one only need to look back to 2009 to see the reaction to Sideshow Rob to see this amount of hate.

I don't know, maybe we'd be better off plugging Morris into the starting lineup if we can find a team interested in trading for a big guy that can shoot the 3. I like Channing but I really think he'd be better on a team that could put him alongside a small forward and a center than could better hide his weaknesses. I think we often underrate his strengths and it's made worse because our lineup tends to highlight his flaws.

if there ends up being this rumored amnesty clause where you can drop one contract in the new CBA... i'd try to trade Nash/Frye for Arenas and 2 or 3 first round unprotected picks from orlando. We get a huge salary dump if we can drop arenas with the rumored amnesty clause and get future picks to start rebuilding.

I also think a team of Nash, Richardson, Hedo, Frye and Howard could be a serious contender for a year... then they'd all go their separate ways, the magic would be terrible and we'd suck up their lotto picks!

hell, I wouldn't even mind if that DIDN'T happen. I'd happily follow the Magic for a couple years as my team until sarver finally bit the bullet here, watching nash try to get a ring.

You don't think Hill and Gortat are sufficient besides Frye? Last season I thought the Suns needed another big body to play back-up PF to give the Suns more size and depth on the frontline. I'm comfortable starting Frye at PF.

I'd jump on a deal like that. But then, I'd jump on any deal that hastens our decline and comes with a few extra future picks. I'm a lot more satisfied with our past than most of the people here but I'm at least as depressed as most over our near and probable long term future.

Bad teams usually stay bad for a long time because of poor decisions. If Suns do bottom out I expect them to stay there for quite awhile unless the somehow luck into a mega prospect like Andre Drummond. When they say things like they would have taken Morris/Lopez higher I actually believe them, which is depressing.

Heard someone today saying mk morris is well coached in big man skills and will produce right away. No he is not a high flying athlete but he knows how to get and maintain position. He is a very efficiwnt player and compares the toughness, defense, rebounding and shooting skills to Rasheed Wallace. Not that he will be at that level, but its that type of skill set.

I agree. Gortat is a great complement to Frye.

I'm not sure where you are drawing the comparison but Rodney had a nice NBA career. I'd settle for that.

I wish Rodney the best after a dirt bike accident in November of 2008 left him paralyzed.

I haven't seen Morris play at all but some of the descriptions you guys gave reminded me of Rogers (3pt range, big guy with average athleticism, etc)

Rogers was one of my favorite players during those Kidd years, and I hope he's doing well.

I think Morris on paper is a good fit. He has some offnsive skills and still plays defense and rebounds. If he fail, it will be because the coaching staff didn't motivate him adequately.

You always want a really self motivated player, but some talented guys don't understand. If Morris is motivated, he could do very well.

Well as long as he's not forced to sit on the bench for 2 years because Sarver wants to grab that 8th seed he should do fine given minutes and the proper coaching.

I would be ecstatic if Morris turned out as good as Rodney Rogers

seriously. and people are forgetting that Rogers was actually a VERY good athlete. Dude could run the floor with the best of them when he came out of college.

Morris has shown nothing like that in his career.

Realising how this is a real possibility made me unhappy :(

What career? Going from the taxi to the press conference podium? ;)

I also feel Rodney Rogers was a better athlete than Markieff is now, but the kid needs to hit the weight room and fill out more. I see us keep starting Frye with Gortat and let Markieff get a lot of minutes as the 6th man.

And we need to sign someone to play SG that can create or at least hit the outside shot with regularity. Dudley is okay but he's really a SF as someone said ... OR we could keep playing Chilli (can't shoot) and Air France (don't know a good shot) and stink for a year so we get a higher pick next year. That's what I'm hoping for. Play like crap so we get some real talent.

We
need
it

What happens with next years draft if there is no NBA season due to the lockout?

Who goes in the lottery for the highest picks? Will there be a draft at all?

Markieff seems more like a Kurt Thomas type of player. Not a hugely gifted athlete but very fundamentally sound with developed offensive and defensive skills. Kurt was 6'7.75" (wo shoes, 221), when drafted.

He will likely be a solid, servicable, safe pick--not an all-star but potential role-playing starter. That's probably not bad coming out of this draft.

I guess he could be more like a Cliff Robbinson or Rasheed Wallace. Can shoot and play D. If we can work on his hops he could be a Derick Favors type. I just hope he doesn't fall in love with the 3.
