Who else is impressed with Morris this year? Impressive perimeter game along with a pretty good post game, good rebounding, he's poised to have a big year and it doesn't look fluky. I'm excited to see his progress this season.

I really hope he can shut up the critics. He's had a lot on the local message boards.

Stupid Gentry wanted to convert him into Frye's twin brother and was holding back his post game.

Both Morris brothers seem to play well when in the game together for long periods of time.

Go Morrises!!

Markieff sure outplayed Faried tonight:

28/10/3/2 on 10-13 shooting vs. 3/5/0/1 on 1-4 shooting

Is it bad that I want the Suns to get Mason Plumlee too?

Kevin Garnett Rips Mason Plumlee After Rookie Mistakes

The Brooklyn Nets forward is getting an increased amount of playing time each game as he shows improvement, but simple mistakes have caused him to get an earful from teammates like Kevin Garnett.

The rookie saw his first taste of real NBA action against the Utah Jazz, but things did not start out well for him. Just forty-two seconds after checking into the game, Plumlee was called for an offensive foul that was met with heat from Garnett. The veteran told the rookie he needed to calm down and player more alert basketball. Plumlee is used to the raised motivation.

Although they may motivate each other (which shouldn't be necessary for an NBA player to do his best), I believe it is time to stop thinking of them as one.

Markieff's skill level is better than Marcus's.

Go Markeiff! Go Marcus! Go Channing! Go P.J.! Etc. :)

Notable picks after Markieff Morris

Kawhi Leonard
Nikola Vucevic
Tobias Harris
Kenneth Faried
Jimmy Butler
Chandler Parson (2nd round)

Vucevic stands out along with Parsons and Faried to some extent. Harris broke out late last year and he might be a big name on this list. I think Morris has more talent than Parsons or Faried. The pick seemed decent at the time and now it may just pay off for the Suns.

Looks like alot of it has to do with coaching. Jeff Hornacek and Mark West are two very intelligent people. I had a friend who worked in the same brokerage office with Mark, BEFORE he retired. Yes, Mark West was a practicing stock broker during his NBA career.

http://www.nba.com/suns/news/suns-notebook-markieff-morris-focused-getting-rim

Markieff Morris knew facets of his game needed improving, but assistant coach Mark West helped him realize one area that deserved his immediate attention.

The free throw line.

It’s a space Morris knows well from the flow of the game. Almost too well, Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek thought.

Instead of taking contested mid-range jumpers, however, he wanted to see Morris cut and drive more often to the rim.

“We watched a lot of film and one thing we had to challenge is me getting a lot of free throw shots,” Morris said. “When we work out in practice or before the games, we’re doing a lot of basket moves and he’s doing a lot of fouling with me trying to finish through that.”

The last three games have seen the adjustment pay off in spades. Morris is shooting a ridiculous 68 percent from the field in that span. More importantly, he is averaging just one three-point attempt per game after averaging two per contest his rookie year and 1.6 per game last season.

I'm glad you mentioned Faried. He did not play anywhere as good as I remember. I don't know if Plumlee and Markieff bothered him inside or what. Maybe there is some truth to those trade rumors. The latter and the coaching change may have a lot to do with it.

I remember Mark West being really good at fouling back in the day...didn't know it would turn into a useful coaching technique :D...All kidding aside though Mark West was always one of the good guys and I'm glad that he is doing some good coaching now. If he can turn Markieff into a player then good for the team and us fans

If the referees even looked at Mark West they called a foul. I never saw at least half the fouls they called against him.

Mark West could get a foul while sitting on the bench.

For as many horrible decisions and moves Blanks was a part of, he should be given credit for drafting Markieff over Marcus when the majority believed Marcus the superior choice. I didn't want either, but at least he got that one right. He also brought in Tucker who was a good find. Not defending the dude, can't stand him and feel he was the worst GM in Suns history and one of the worst in the league, but he should get credit for the few good decisions as he certainly has taken his punches for the poor ones.

Scola too, if that was his idea. I've heard otherwise though.

But then he went and traded for the bad one anyway. And while Blanks was here he seemed to think Kieff was supposed to be a stretch 4.

And a few good games is not enough to convince me we Kieff was a better pick than Faried (who I loved in that draft).

No Gentry thought that. And Marcus is definitely worth trading a 2nd round pick for. Especially if adding him has also increased Markieff's confidence.

This is true. Most second rounders do not find a roster spot. Marcus is at least worthy of a 8-9 spot in the rotation.

I just saw this stat!

Markieff Morris is only the third player since 1989 to notch three consecutive games shooting at least 75 percent from the floor while taking at least 12 shots, joining Dwight Howard and Charles Barkley.

Here's another stat for you:

When each Morris twin scored in double digits for a third consecutive game Friday, Markieff and Marcus Morris became the first brother teammates in NBA history to do so. They are the 11th set of brothers to play together in league history.

They showed a similar stat during the game "1st Suns player with 13+ FGA's in back to back game to shoot 76.9% since A. Stoudemire (2007)". I wonder who it was that shot 76.8% and had to be excluded from the group?

Horny said he always imagined himself being a college coach. Well, he's coaching this team like a college team, including his suddenly deeper rotations. Players are responding. Guys seem to enjoy playing for him and with each other.

Someone sing the alumni song before I get too weepy about brotherhood.

Markieff Morris and Paul George have been named the NBA's Players of the Week.

Morris tied for seventh in the Western Conference in scoring (22.8 ppg), 14th in the conference in rebounding (8.0 rpg), eighth in the conference in steals (2.0 spg) and led the league in field goal percentage (.698).

George led the Pacers in scoring in all four games, and his 24.8 ppg average ranked fifth in the East. The fourth-year forward chipped in with 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.75 steals.
Congrats to Kieff!
