And how much potential does Petit have?

He isn't a power pitcher, rather a finese with good control. He had good success in the lower levels of the Minors but kinda sucked in AAA. Other than that I don't know much about him.

Petit for Julio??

That'd be the biggest legal robbery since Enron. Me thinks that if the Marlins part with him, it's gonna involve a few more players on each side to even things out.

I don't know. Petit had a pretty awful season last year, even for a 21-year old (Triple-A = 4-6, 4.28 ERA, 97 IP, 68 Ks and Majors = 1-1, 9.57 ERA, 26 IP, 9 BB, 20 Ks). While he still have loads of potential, his velocity dipped into the mid-80's and, thus, has fallen far behind other pitchers in the Marlins' system. Since, when he was on, he pitches around 89-91 mph, Petit relies upon deception to get batters out. This might not translate well into the Majors and could lead him to be nothing more than a Triple-A filler.

Certainly getting Petit in return for Jorge would be a good deal but it would not be a steal by any means. It would be exactly what it appears to be; a salary dump for a player with moderate potential.

How much cash?

And how much potential does Petit have?

I thought I had heard the name in this thread and I was right.. :D
