It all looks cool, but I'm probably missing something. What I saw didn't inspire me to go wait in line with all the Avengers nerds. I'm excited to see RDJ in that role again, even though Iron Man 2 was a let down. Thor was a mediocre movie. I actually liked the second Hulk.

But ... I can wait. I guess.

Thor was much better than I was expecting. Good movie IMO. Agree with you on 2nd Iron Man...I thought it was meh. I really liked Captain American and the 2nd Hulk movie as well.

However, for me it's the fact that the studios could pull this off with the cost of movies, star salaries, egos etc... I personally never thought I would ever see an Avengers or Justice League type movie. Yes we had the X-Men but most of them were not involved in their own franchises leading up to an ensemble cast film.

Factor in that Joss Whedon is flat out one my favorite writer/directors and some kick ass footage?!!?!?

Can't wait!

I was going to go se it at the midnight show on Thursday night, but I have to go to some stupid work thing that evening now. So, I'm catching the first show on Friday morning. I hear Whedon knocked it out of the park.

I will have to wait until Saturday afternoon to watch it at our office's "customer appreciation" screening.

I have seen part of Thor. Would it be good to rewatch the entire movie or am I good?

If I were you, I'd watch Thor in it's entirety. Not because you'll miss out on anything in The Avengers, but because it was a pretty good movie.

If I had the time, I would rewatch all the films leading up to this.

dcr & I are doing the Avengers Movie marathon at Harkins. I'm super stoked about it! Starts at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday & ends with the midnight showing of The Avengers.

That's the plan in my household this week.

That sounds freaking awesome. Wish I could swing that.

Tix were only $25; each ticket includes admission to all 6 movies, 2 popcorns & 2 drinks. Since I work Sat-Tue now, I'm off...dcr is taking Fri off & I think just getting out early Thurs. He's off at 1:00 anyway, so he only has to leave 2 hours early to get to the movie on time.

I betcha he is...he's just playing it cool.
Nah, he really doesn't enjoy going TO the movies, and he's not sure he can take all that sitting, lol!

That is WAY to much theater time in one day. Hope they are the IMAX plush chairs.

agreed. I think I'd be completely brain-dead by the time the avengers started.

Me too; we get 1/2 an hour between movies, so we will have time to walk around & stuff...stretch our legs.

That's what I'm hoping for!

This was all my doing. It was just something that came up, we're able to do it, and I can look back later & say, "I DID THAT!" It will be fun. I get to the movie theater twice a year IF I'M LUCKY. This will be a blast.

In 1991, I saw Star Trek I, II, III, IV, V and then finally VI at an all day marathon - at the one and only original Cine Capri theater (since demolished).

It's a blast and there is time to wander and get a break...move your legs, etc. :D

It was definitely great. It was paced extremely well, the characters all got a chance to shine, and the action was spectacular.

My friend and I both came away from it saying that if it had continued at that pace and quality, we could have easily watched an extra hour of it.

I can't wait. I've been waiting for this one for over a year.

Okay, I just got back from seeing it on IMAX in 3D. If you're afraid of a little geeking out, I suggest you move on.

Here are my non-spoiler thoughts:

  1. Overall, I thought it was great--especially the second half.
  2. Sam Jackson over-played it
  3. Cap looks stupid with his hood up (yes, even allowing for a certain amount of leeway for wearing a super-hero costume). They should have kept the WWII suit—or at least stuck with the more helmet-like headgear. I’m still not sold with Chris Evans as Cap. He’s still more suited for Johnny Storm.
  4. They missed an opportunity early on for Cap to “earn” Thor’s respect. They should have had him pick up Thor’s hammer in the forest, then it would have made sense for Thor to fall in line when Cap is barking orders later in the movie.
  5. This is the best Hulk movie, yet. He’s the star—both as Banner and as the Hulk—even though he doesn’t get the same screen time as Iron Man and Cap.
  6. I think everyone is going to say this is the best comic book movie yet, but I’m not sure it’s going to hold up to that after a couple of years. I think it’s on par with Thor (which you should probably see before you see this one—it’s the one with the most direct links to The Avengers; Captain America, too…you don’t really need to see the Iron Man movies).
  7. The extra scenes are good. The first one tips you off to the next villain, the second one is just funny. And, the second one is about 7 minutes after the movie ends. If you need to pee (like I had to), you could get up and go and then come back and still catch it.
  8. The new Spider-Man trailer looks pretty f’n fantastic in IMAX 3-D. I hate that it’s yet another origin story, though.
  9. The new Batman movie looks like it could disappoint based on the trailer.
