Welcome to The Show! On Wednesday, Phoenix Suns forward Shawn Marion will be here to take your questions on the Suns' season so far.
Phoenix's first-round pick in 1999, Marion is a two-time All-Star (2003 and 2005) who has averaged 18.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game during his career, including 21 ppg and 12 rpg so far in 2005-06.
Send your questions now and join Shawn in The Show at 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Buzzmaster: Hellooooooooo! Shawn Marion will be here soon to take your questions!

Matt (NY): Shawn has any coach ever tried to get you to change your release? Because if I shot like that in HS my coach would have cut me, how did you make it work so good for you?

Shawn Marion: No, I just don't follow through like most people do. I get paid a lot of money to shoot like I do. A lot of people have worse shots than mine...haha

Stu(LA, CA): Shawn, First- congrats on another crazy sick season so far. As a top top NBA defender do you prefer playing off the ball or on? Small forward or Power? Good luck man!

Shawn Marion: You know what, I guess it depends on who I matchup with. If I'm guarding a good scorer, I'd like to be on the ball. But if I'm playing someone who doesn't get a lot of attention it's nice to play off the ball....and I prefer small forward.

Vince (Minneapolis, MN): tHey Shawn, the T'wolves should try to get you. I think you and KG would be a great fit. What are your comments on that?

Shawn Marion: Not bad at all. KG's a hell of a player. I think I would complement him very well, but he's not playing point...haha

Jon, Corvallis, OR: I've been a long time Sun's fan since the good ol' day's of KJ, Barkley, Long Rainge Ainge, Marley, etc. Marion though, has been the best player I have ever seen on the suns. What did it take to endure all of the up's and downs that the suns have been through?

Shawn Marion: Man, just some will power and knowing that I'm going to work to make my teammates better and learning that this is a business.

CLAUDE GIPSON (LONGBEACH, CA): WHO ARE THE TWO HARDEST PLAYERS YOU HAVE HAD TO GAURD IN THE LEAGUE.

Shawn Marion: Tim Duncan and Kobe, probably. Tim is way bigger than me, and I'm saying Kobe because he's a helluva player. Anyone who has the ball a lot and goes at you every trip down the floor is tough. So guys like LeBron, Carmelo, AI, Dwyane Wade...anybody who scores a lot is hard to guard.

Shawn Marion: It's not about playing defense on somebody. It's about how much they're going at you.

Brandon (Toronto): Is Steve Nash the best point guard you have ever played with and what is it that makes him so good?

Shawn Marion: It's between him and Jason Kidd. Their court vision is the same, but they're different offensively. Steve's a better shooter, but Kidd is a better post player. Steve is always trying to get the teammates involved.

Lee Hoang (Houston, TX): Why have you never entered the dunk contest? And why do you always refuse to compete in the dunk contest?

Shawn Marion: It's not my thing. I'd rather do my thing during the game. Having the spotlight on me dunking is not my thing. All-Star weekend is draining enough without the dunk contest.

Natan: ( Sacramento): will you be disappointed if you don't make the all-star team this year?

Shawn Marion: Yeah, I would, but I'm not worried about that.

Shawn Marion: If you're not winning, you don't deserve to be on the All-Star team...and that's real. I think they should do away with the fans having so much input in who goes to the game.

Mike (Sudbury, MA): How has the injury of Amare affected the Suns?

Shawn Marion: It really hasn't. This is the NBA. It's a business. Injuries happen and it's how your team overcomes the injuries....of course we'd love to have him out there, but we can't worry about injuries. The team would try to win without me if I couldn't go. They're not gonna lay down.

divine, brooklyn, ny: what up matrix ! I'm just writing to give props for doing your thing in athens. I really hope to see you and lamar ballin' in Japan. we really need y'all. peace

Shawn Marion: Thanks for the love. We're gonna try to hold it down for you.

alan (columbia, sc): Did you know that the Suns were interested in you before you made the decision to leave UNLV? I just can't believe that another team did not snatch you up in the draft ahead of Phoenix.

Shawn Marion: Yeah, they could have, but I didn't force the issue. How hard your agent pushes you, how your workouts go, etc. really influence it. I could've gone maybe 5th, but I knew I wasn't going to go past 9. I wanted to go to Phoenix, though.

Mike (Detroit, MI): Shawn you say if you're not winning, you don't deserve to be on the All-Star team. I agree. So why can't we get any Pistons other then Ben on the team?

Shawn Marion: You know what, that's because it's a popularity contest. That's a mess. Chauncey, Rasheed, Rip, and you can even fight for Tayshaun. Y'all deserve at least 2 if not 3 All-Stars with the best record in the league.

Akmal (Malaysia): how much will the starting lineup change when amare returns? and we know it's gonna be one hell of a team. who will drop to the bench?

Shawn Marion: Me, probably. I'm just playin'....Probably Boris, maybe. I really don't know.

Geno Maricopa AZ: Hello Mr.Marion I think you a remarkable player if you could play with 1 other guy in the league (not to diminish any of the phenomenal players on the Suns) who would it be and why.

Shawn Marion: That's good....Hmmmm...It would have to be Shaq. He's the most dominant force in the paint right now and he makes everyone around him better. I know for a fact that when you play with a big man that can pass, it makes it so much easier for everybody.

Domes (Pittsburgh): How much of a suprise has the play of Boris Diaw been this season?

Shawn Marion: It's been a surprise. I didn't know how good of a passer he was. And being such a freakish athlete that I am, I can catch those crazy lobs he's throwin'.

Shawn Marion: Thanks to the fans. If it wasn't for you all, I wouldn't be here. And I hope to do it again sometime!

Isn't it considered bad taste to publically recognize your freakish athletic ability? Superman never touted his ability to leap tall buildings.

Then again, I doubt Superman could throw down like Marion.

:biglaugh: I think Superman had issues with the Cape - always getting hung up after the dunk, made things look sloppy.

Glad to see Marion get some National exposure this year. He deserves all he gets.

And there it is again. As I have pointed out in the past to people who say Marion needs to change his shot...he will never ever do it. He gets really defensive when anyone mentions it.

Definitely correct. It's funny how it's always the first thing that comes up though.

Actually, Marion is wrong. He doesn't get paid a lot of money to shoot like that. He gets paid a lot of money to dunk, rebound, defend, and do all those other things. If his market value was set by his shooting, he'd be making about 1/10 as much.

I noticed he kept saying the NBA is a business. Interesting. The guy who types for him does better than shawn does on TV.

Nice chat.

Just curious... why is Pistons so unpopular? Why is it so difficult to vote their players to all-star? lol
