No, no, I believe you. You have a different interpretation, nothing wrong with that. It's just I thought that regardless of interpretation, the implication that Neo might still be alive was blatant:

At the end, the Oracle was talking to the little Indian girl, and says that she expects they may see Neo again. One of the last lines of the movie.

So did Neo die or what....they left that up for the audience to decide

Eh, thats true. The Oracle talked in circles so much I never really knew what to think of her.

But the point is valid. I just didnt take it as to heart. I took it more as a granny talking to a youngster, not wanting to say. "No he died." Heh. Interesting; all the differing interpretations.

I also didn't think they did a very good job making Smith out to be as big a threat to the machines. He was definitely a threat to Neo and the others, but I just didn't see good enough justification for the machines to all of a sudden call a truce with the humans--considering the entire series up till that point was about humans vs. machines.

Thats also valid. I like the twist, but it seemed a bit contrived, true. The real thing that pissed me off about the machines, is that they suddenly took on a human form to tallk to Neo with that face, and then, after obviously having the ability to crush the humans, which had been their goal from the moment the series said go, they displayed an entirely HUMAN emotional capacity and didnt just use Neo to get Smith and then continued on with the slaughter.

Good point! This film sucked! Heh.

I finally got around to watching this last night because the second one was so underwhelming.

I thought it pretty much sucked. Has there ever been a movie with more interchangeable, uninteresting characters? Everyone looked and sounded the same.

The CGI effects were impressive, but the live-action sets, the interior shots of the ships and Zion, looked like something out of Star Trek: Enterprise. When the humans were fighting the sentinels and their ships were rocking back-and-forth I had flashbacks to the movie rides at Disneyland.

Crappy dialogue as well. Whenever the sentinels broke through something the standard reply was always "*********!" The line must have been uttered 40 times. I think the worst exchange was:

Morpheus: "You did it"

Jada Pinkett's character: "No. We did it" :barf:

I actually liked the Neo character in the first film, but he just doesn't have enough juice to carry three movies. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne seemed to just be going through the motions here.

If the scene at the end where the weenie guy runs around telling everyone the war was over was supposed to be inspirational, it failed miserably. It was painfully cheesy and horribly delivered.

I wish the first film had just stood on its own because it is one of my favorite movies. They shouldn't have even bothered with the other two. I think the Wachowskis began believing their own press releases about how great they are, or they were just in it for the money. Very disappointing.

I totally agree with your take on this. I think they just got too much into the whole "behind the movie" stuff. The characters were just too much philosophy and too little passion. Some of those same lines could have worked...the delivery just sucked.

I finally finished off the Matrix Series last night. I went to the theatre to watch the first one, and had a great time. I thought it was really good. Then I went and saw the 2nd one as soon as it came out and was a little disappointed. So, I finally saw the 3rd one last night. What a waste of time. The first one will remain an all-time favorite, but I would rather just play a Matrix video game than watch the last two again.
