Hell ****ing no, I don't him anywhere near the Southwest. As a gator fan!!! Bring on Tebow!!!
Leinart hasnt had a fair shake yet.
His first year, he became the starter in the 4th or 5th game of the season (forgot which one). He was apart of a broken system with a lame duck coach who knew he was going to get clipped after the MNF game. The O-Line was horrible that season.
Then a new regime comes in and completely changes everything. Kind of intimidating for a young QB with a lot to prove. Whis didnt have a lot of confidence in Leinart. He kept pulling him in key situations, not giving him a chance to adjust to the new system. Then he goes down with the collar bone and Kurt goes nuts for the rest of the season. And the following season, he is benched because of one bad preseason game.
Now hindsight, Kurt deserved to be the starter and it was the best thing for Leinart to observe a former MVP and Superbowl winner to show him how to be a leader and to dictate an offense.
The maturity was apparent in the preseason. He has worked on some of his weaknesses, such as throwing off his back foot and pocket awareness. I could tell from training camp and preseason games that he has got his zip back on the ball and he is in much better shape, large in part to his training with Tom Brady and (of all things) the MMA.
I think if Leinart practices with the #1 unit more and actually gets into the game much earlier, he gets his rhythm and dictates the offense almost as well as Warner. IMO, we have the best QB situation in the league. Warner is a top 5 QB in this league and Leinart is a great safety plug.
I look forward to seeing the new and improved Leinart in the years to come.
Hells yeah my man. Lets drink a cold one in Matty's honor on Sunday
