Matthew Tkachuk sure seems to enjoy being a South Floridian.
Any why shouldn't he?
The Florida Panthers forward and Stanley Cup Champion has endeared himself to the local community since being acquired in a trade with the Calgary Flames back in the summer of 2022.
Images of Tkachuk taking the Stanley Cup for a sunrise swim in the Atlantic Ocean mere hours after winning the historic trophy are still fresh in the minds of many.
Currently, Tkachuk is rehabbing from a lower-body injury that is expected to keep him out of the Panthers lineup until sometime during this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, which begin in almost exactly a month.
Monday was St. Patrick’s Day, and while his Panthers teammates were making their way back to South Florida for a mid-road trip break, Tkachuk was enjoying the holiday at one of his favorite local spots.
Tkachuk was spotted at Elbo Room along Fort Lauderdale Beach, sporting a green shirt and green leprechaun hat, with photos popping up on social media.

Elbo Room, a longtime South Florida staple, has seen its popularity go from a local legend to a tourist spot, at least among hockey fans, with Tkahcuk helping put the spotlight on the joint.
That oceanside dip for Lord Stanley’s Cup back when the Cats became champions? Before heading down the beach, the Cup was with Tkachuk at Elbo Room.
With all that in mind, it makes perfect sense that Tkachuk wanted to spend his St. Patty’s at his favorite local watering hole.
Who knows, maybe you’ll bump into him there the next time you stop by.
