Remembering Man City's luck of the Irish on St Patrick's Day
St Patrick's Day is associated with the luck of the Irish and no one had it quite like Niall Quinn.
Before he was forming a fearsome double act with Kevin Phillips at Sunderland, the towering marksman spent six years at the fulcrum of Manchester City's front line.
But there was one occasion when Quinn was as proficient in goal as much as he was in front of it by producing heroics at either end against Derby County in 1991.
Not only did Quinn open the scoring for City, he also had a spell in goal after Tony Coton received a straight red card for bringing down Dean Saunders in the area.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all those celebrating!
The luck of the Irish was certainly on Niall Quinn's side in our 1991 clash with Derby County, as he scored a goal and saved a penalty in the same match!️ pic.twitter.com/LbjGDjQGEc

His stand-in proved a more than able deputy by saving the ensuing penalty as the hosts held on for a 2-1 victory as Peter Reid's side took all three points.
