Ahhgggh

I'm afraid your right, like Q and Kurt yelling at Haley. Either Whiz wants to see this out of Matt, He sure has been asking for it, or He don't care what Matt says.

I don't trust Whiz right now, I seen it with my own eyes, and I've seen some football good and bad. Matts playing good football.

His team mates need to understand that He has a laid back personality and He is not Kurt Warner. But Matts lead by example.

He's outplayed every other mouth on the Cardinals.

With that statement to the media, Matt just sealed his fate.

Don't think Whis is the type that will stand for that.

Finally! He's acting like he actually wants the job. About time...
Griping to the media about your percieved slights isn't acting like youwant the job. Acting like you want the job is working your butt off in the offseason, studying like a madman, leading the team by example, showing toughness in game and practice situations, and making plays when the lights turn on. Matt is lacking in all of those areas.

Matt's predicament is self-inflicted, he's had four years to show Whisenhunt his stuff and even had Whiz anoint him starter on three separate occasions and every time he's crapped himself.

While it seems pretty obvious at this point who will be our starting qb week one, even more fuel to the fire...

When asked about the QB situation...

My gut says Anderson is in a real good place right now.

I've know Orange County laid back guys my whole life. Men who have led men. Then grabbed their boards and gone to the beach.

If there is a "thing" between Matt and the team (we are all still conjecturing) it goes WAY beyond his laid back personality. I think we're talking about leadership and respect more than, "Yo, Dude! Check out my hot tub."

I'm betting Ben Graham is a real "no worries, Mate" kind of guy. Probably a lot of them on the team. It's something else.

You actually helped make my point. So far he's not acted like he wanted the job or that he even cared if he lost it. Ho-hum, just another day of going through the motions on the job... At least this got him fired up. That's the most passionate that I've seen from him in 4 years.

Likely it's too little, too late. But at least I know the guy has a pulse now.

I don't necessarily see this as ml "griping" to the media, and I don't see it as avoidance. Someone asked him about it on Monday morning, he answered honestly and likely hasn't had an opportunity to speak with coach about it.

IMO, this statement is blown WAY out of proportion.

sounds like the team is more confused than the fans if thats possible.
Lets take q's stuff out of his locker before He comes back,
I'm sick of these head games, The Cards board has a pol who fans expect to start, it is 85% Matt Leinart,

I would respond the same way to being punked after my on the field performance.
Aint thug enough for Whisenhunt, acts to much like KW. I guess.
uhhhhhhh

WHAT?

Leinart's best course of action would have been to say nothing to the media and to let his play do the talking. His stats are better though not overwhelmingly so and even 23 attempts isn't that many to make a final judgement on. If he went for some longer throws and had a pick in there, the stats could be more even. He did improve his case considerably by moving the ball very efficiently in the Chicago game even if they were shorter throws. Complaining to the media accomplished nothing and just makes him look like an immature whiner. If Whisenhunt started to lean towards Leinart after the game (who knows what he's really thinking), what good would complaining to the media after the game do? Whiz's decision to start DA in game 3 was made before Matt even got a first down. He should have said nothing, then go out and play well in game 4. Instead, he risks blowing everything.

The media can make you look like a lot of things.

I'm guessing it went down something like this:

Media: "Hey Matt, have you talked to coach yet about the situation?"

ML: "No, I haven't. Not yet."

Media: "Don't you want an explanation? Do you know what he's thinking?"

ML: "No, I don't understand the situation. I'd like an explanation. I'm sure I'll get one when we speak after practice."

...but all we see is: "I want an explanation."

I just listened to Wiz's statements today. I really believe they are trying to trade him as we speak. Reporter ask if both DA & Matt both play Thurs. aginst the Skins & Wiz responded "yes, unless something changes between now & then". The writings on the wall who starts versus the Lambs & getting rid of #7 makes sense based on that decision.

Thats actually not how it went down at all....

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/Blog/DanBickley/97228

After Monday's practice, Matt Leinart walked off the field by himself. He appeared to be looking for a quick exit, only to have a change of heart. He walked back toward a gaggle of reporters, spoke from the heart, and promptly put his foot in his mouth.

Leinart said "there's something that's going on." He said he clearly outplayed his competition. He said he wants an explanation. He said the problem "probably goes beyond football, beyond the field, actually."

Maybe. That story still has precious few quotes, and none of the questions asked of him. I doubt he turned around and gave a soliloquy.

That's debatable. He hasn't put enough work in to know when a WR lines up wrong apparently.

When you have rookie WRs Andre Roberts and Stephen Williams out there with you in the 3 wide out sets probably not knowing where to line up, an OLine that doesn't know who to block, a play clock winding down, you are going to look bad like he did in the Titans game. To me that statement about WRs lining up wrong is BS. Yes rookie WRs are going to line up wrong. You don't see Fitz and Breaston having issues though. You only have 3 time outs. You only have 40 seconds to get a play off. I don't care if Peyton Manning is the QB if his WRs didn't usually know where to line up, he wouldn't be able to run the offense nearly as well.

Had Matt spent his time yelling at the WRs Whiz probably would have come out and said, "We want a guy who run plays instead of spending all his time yelling at his teammates" or something.

It's easy to give Whiz the benefit of the doubt, but to me it's seemed an awful lot like he's been speaking out both sides of his mouth about ML this off-season.

Whiz gave a little, clarified his heart to me and I'm satisfied with this explanation.

“I think we have been consistent, always trying to pick the best team and pick the best players to try and win,” Whisenhunt said. “That’s what this process is about, not whether you like somebody or don’t like somebody. It’s more about what you feel is right for the team. I have great affection for Matt and the way he has worked and what he has gone through, so I want to dispel that right away.”

“We have been consistent in trying to find the best players on our team and what the best fit is, and that’s all it’s about,” Whisenhunt said. “It’s not about what Matt is or isn’t doing. It’s ‘We weren’t successful enough offensively in the first two games.’ ”

Nothing has been decided on Leinart’s future, either as a starter or otherwise (the Cards aren’t looking for a trade right now), although Whisenhunt did talk about his feelings if rookie Max Hall

or rookie John Skelton

were to end up as No. 2.

“That’s always dicey thing when you are talking about a rookie in a backup role,” Whisenhunt said. “I have been impressed by how both those men have handled themselves through the camps, OTAs, training camp.

“You know you will have growing pains, but they have made progress. They have both played well in preseason games. I understand the regular season is a different animal and you’d have to understand you’d have to live with some things with those guys but I feel a lot more comfortable with those guys on the regular-season roster than you would have to start training camp.”

Before anything could take place with the rookie quarterbacks and the depth chart, however, Whisenhunt will have to make a decision on his veterans.

“Who knows what will happen?” Leinart said. “But it’s not up to me.”
