We need to play this big on Thursday... then pressure will be on them... We still have all the pressure right now.

The Suns HAVE TO WIN ON THUSDAY. They can not stop giving 100% in games they don't really need to win. We need to finish this series in 6. D'Antoni has to get them thinking like this is an elimination game.

I think if the team leaves it all out on the court, with the momentum from this game, they have a real shot to advance. But if they pull their routine "take a day off after a big win" philosophy, the mavs will probably end up taking the series.

Don't expect the Mavs to lay down again for you like they did tonight.
Remember, we are the same team that knocked the Spurs out of the playoffs, even if it didn't look like it tonight. (under-statement of the year.)
At this point, I would be shocked if this series doesn't go to a game 7.

It would be a huge mistake for either team to get overly confident at this point.
Anyway, that's the fans job to be overly confident. That is just part of being a fan. Sometimes I think the fans want the win worse than their team does. As a Mavs fan, I can attest to that fact tonight.

Dallas had their chance to finish off PHX tonight. I really believe PHX wins this. Why? Just ask LA why. This team finds ways to win when their backs are against the wall.

Not sure why your coach has a love affair with Keith Van Horn? He's been the Suns best bench player this series.

Josh Howard and Devin Harris should be getting touches every time down he floor. If not, then your coach isn't doing his job.

That Dallas swagger was knocked the hell out tonight.

I'm not overconfident in the Suns at all. This was a great win tonight, but it was one of the worst games Dallas has played in the playoffs and I don't expect them to play this poorly again. We had great energy tonight and got to all the loose balls, but our energy level isn't always there. Sometimes even when it's there, the balls still don't bounce our way. We finally played Suns basketball for about half of the game tonight, but we still had lulls and got into half-court one-on-one basketball, which is not our style (plus the garbage time). We need to sustain the energy and concentration longer to be able to beat Dallas 2 out of the next 3.

props to you Dirk41 for coming back here after that loss - I don't expect the same from a group of trolls that infested us the last couple days.

There's no doubt in my mind that this series goes 7 and Game 7 ends up going down as one of THE all-time classic games ever played... with Nash walking off into the Sunset, getting ready for his first NBA Finals!

Mavs started the first 4 games against memphis with straight wins. They swept the Grizzlies.

Mavs started the first 4 games against San Antonio up 3-1--3 out of which were extremely close and could have went either way! It still took them 7 to finish off the Spurs.

Mavs started the first 4 games against Phoenix and the series is tied 2 apiece.

my prediction stands. We win in 6 or lose in 7. We won't win in 7.

Hey, at least we are not like Pistons 1-3. We are still in this series. At this moment, both teams are about the same.

series recap

Game 1: Mavericks in control late, Suns win
Game 2: Suns in control most of the way, Mavericks win
Game 3: Close at halftime, Suns don't show up for second half
Game 4: Close at halftime, Mavericks don't show up for second half

So I'd have to say it's been pretty even so far. :p

Honestly, everybody acts like PHX's offense took off today, but this is not a typical Phoenix win. For one, the offense really didn't take off until the second half. Dallas was still in the game and only down 5 at the half. And Marion really had a quiet night.

If you look at some of the big wins for Phoenix this post season, all starters had big games. Tonight Diaw and Nash stood out among the starters. Tim Thomas scored a measly 5 points and he made some doltish moves these past 2 games that resulted in quick turnovers. As for Bell, while he gave the team an emotional lift, finished up with just 9.

Suns only made 7-15 (46%) from beyond the arc, and I say only because normally they're jacking up over 20 and making around 10 or higher from three point range.

I equate this win to the game 5 win against the Lakers. We all knew it was a closeout game, Suns fought back, it wasn't pretty but they managed to pull away at the end. That momentum did spill over, despite Bell's suspension, and the rest was history.

Hopefully the late momentum from tonight's game will spill over into game 5.

Barbosa just seems more comfortable coming off the bench. He was huge as a starter in Game 6 against the Lakers, but otherwise he really struggles with that pressure.

This may have been the Suns best defensive performance of the playoffs. They held the Mavs to 41.8% shooting (which actually is high since they got some easy scores during crunch time). This is an extremely good offensive team the Suns stopped.

You think Raja might have made a difference?

Our defense was really good. In one stretch in the 3rd when somehow we were loose defensively, the Mavs got open 3 pts and nailed them all to stay close. So, it's not like they were cold or what, but our defensive attention was there, the rotations were in place. And offensively, we just kept being patient. very convincing win.

Dallas doesn't win too often when Dirk has a bad night, and that was as bad a night as I can remember him having in years. As he has gone 40 plus games scoring at least 20, I'm not too worried he won't come back. I was pretty proud of the Mavs for staying close with no help from him or Terry at all. I think Dirk repeately missing shots he always makes rattled the team as much as the threes did.

Raja is a hoss. Gave the Suns a huge emotional lift that may have doomed the Mavs from the start. Barkley was complaining about the previous crowd being lifeless. Raja's return took care of that.

Congrats. Great win. As a Mavs fan, I still feel pretty good. Got the split. Regained home court. Showed we can stop the PHX fast break with 100% concentration and effort. Got reminded that without those things, can be behind by 15 in a blink of an eye. If Dirk plays normally, and we get 100% on D, we'll be fine. If not, Cuban may never live down having 2 ex Mavs, Bell and Nash, facing possibly the most reviled ex-Mav of all, Antoine Walker, in the finals.

This has been a good series. Back and forth and entertaining.

Like I have said before, I will be rooting for the winner in the Finals one way or the other.

What was REALLY weird is that EVERYBODY was playing D, everyone was helping. I remember STackhouse taking the ball to the hoop, and Barbosa putting a hand in his face, Jones flying out of nowhere from the right side to block the shot and Marion trying to block it from behind. That was just awesome to see.
