Mavericks named to Big 9 all-league wrestling team

Mar. 14—MOSES LAKE — Multiple Moses Lake wrestlers received honors on the Big 9 all-league wrestling team, and the girls wrestling assistant coaching staff was named the assistant staff of the year. All-league wrestlers are listed below.

Boys Big 9

Boys first team: Jose Villafana, freshman, 106 pounds; Ian Garza, junior, 113 pounds; Trenton Vasquez, sophomore, 144 pounds.

Boys second team: Drayden Gaither, senior, 138 pounds; Conner Brosnahan, sophomore, 157 pounds; Malaki Town, senior, 190 pounds; Eli Anderson, sophomore, 215 pounds.

Honorable mention: Cruz Hernandez, senior, 126 pounds.

The Big 9 selects a wrestler from each team for its "good sport" award. Jessee Humphries received the award for Moses Lake.

Girls Big 9

First team: Katelyn Rodriguez, senior, 235 pounds.

Second team: Kayla Gonzalez, freshman, 100 pounds; Kamilah Martinez, sophomore, 11 pounds; Hayden Morris, junior, 120 pounds; Anahi Garcia, freshman, 140 pounds; Naomi Cruz, junior, 170 pounds.

Kaetlyn Rodriguez was named as the Mavericks' representative on the "good sport" team.

Girls honorable mention was not available.
