Some great articles over on yahoo sports regarding Max and his inter-acting w/his teammates. They use the word "moxie" alot to describe him. It reminded me of a great story I read about Neil Lomax many years ago. Alot of people don't realize how good a QB he was. ...Or could have become. At the time he was considered by many to be the NFC's version of Dan Marino, BUT...Marino had a great line and went on to set NFL records. Lomax had no line and went on to get hip replacement. Anyways, the Lomax story....Hope you enjoy it. :)

We were in Dallas playing the mighty Cowboys. Lomax, the rookie QB, comes up to the line, looks over at the veteran Cliff Harris of the Cowboys, and WINKS!! Harris said after the game that he had never seen a rookie QB do that and he'd seen plenty during his long illustrious career. If I remember right Lomax hit Roy Green for a long bomb and some other scores that day and we upset the Cowboys. :D

So back to our "Maximus". Here's an undrafted, rookie QB telling 11-year veteran Clark Haggans before the game to "Get his mind right". Haggans laughed at the kids' moxie and I laughed when I read it. ...And it reminded me of Lomax "winking" at Harris. Hey, I know it's premature but I just think the kid's going to be special and we're going to win with him. GO CARDS! :D

Great story Mark-----I had never heard that one, and I love it. I also love what Max has brought to our table. We may not win more games than we lose, (although I hope we do), but I bet that each one is entertaining regardless of the outcome. That will keep fannies in the stands while we finish retooling and meshing.

I hope you are wrong because that sounds alot like the Plummer days. Not that those were not great times, I personally liked Plummer and always felt if he had a line he would have been much better. But I really dont want to go back to those days of losing but having exciting games. I admit I am now spoiled by the last few years.

I cant help but feel the same way. He just seems to have that "it" factor that really makes me excited about his future with the Cards.

My work PC password is NeilLomax15, and y'all see the avatar. Chuck Norris wears Neil Lomax feety pajamas.

Max may never have Neil's arm, but he does appear to have the moxie and gumption!
