I made a similar comparison to Tarkenton & Brees back a week or so ago when someone said that Hall throws every pass with everything he has. Tarkenton would go into a windup to throw 15 yd outs. He was so quick & decisive, that it didn't matter. His quickness & wiggle was something the NFL had never seen before. It wasn't even appreciated the first time around. Norm Van Brocklin was the HC of the Vikings during Tarkenton's 1st stint there & he HATED that Tarkenton would scramble around. He hated it so much that the Vikings traded Tarkenton to the Giants in the late 60's or early 70's. He probably spent about 5 years with the Giants before he was traded back to the Vikings. The Giants were a lousy franchise & we're trying to save money & get younger. Let's not forget that Tarkenton was 0-3 in SB's, although the Vikings lost to far superior teams (Steelers, Dolphins & Raiders).
Brees has similar physical characteristics, but Brees has a better arm than Tarkenton had. Brees strength is that he has the innate ability to survey the whole field & deliver the ball to the open receiver. Hall's passion & intellilect for the position reminds me of Brees. He looks & acts like a QB and is very decisive. He has a quick release & seems to be very accurate. Way to early though to say he can survey the field like Brees does. I really like the kid, but I would hope he only sees the field during mop up duty this year. I would also like to see a veteran brought in.
