Interesting read. Family always is a strong influence on what you decide to do. I'm not sure people here are kicking BA, I just think this season has exposed his shortfalls. My hope is he learns from them and doesn't repeat the mistakes he has made this season. Evaluate and regroup and come back stronger next season. What should really worry us is if he does decide to retire who would be his successor? There would definitely be some staff changes.

I was thinking about how much Arians has in common with Joe Madden of the Cubs. They're kind of the same guy in alot of ways. I think they even got together and had a drink at some point.

Then you have the young overachieving GMs in Epstein and Keim. It seems really easy to make the comparison between the Epstein/Madden combo and the Keim/Arians combo. I really do think if you gave these two enough time, they would bring a championship to the Cardinals like Epstein and Madden did for the Cubs. What a shame that BA's health is going to stand in the way of him achieving his goal.

I think alot of people have accepted that Arians probably won't be around next year. I just hope that Mike B doesn't take the easy way out by promoting Goodwin. I wonder if Kyle Shanihan is head coach material?

He's terrible. The speculation that BA might retire seems reasonable considering his health, but this guy is often wrong and often has "inside sources", yet is completely wrong a lot of the time.

Cool Uncle. Kongol Hat. Hip Goatee.

Team is losing. Got Stomach Probs.

Writer needs a story.

Puts 2 & 2 together. Speculates that Cool Uncle may be history.

Logic Without Facts = Nice Try (but still BS).

Found this on Facebook:

Bruce Arians says he isn’t thinking about retiring.

Posted by Josh Alper on December 5, 2016,

It’s been a rough season for the Cardinals on the field and for their coach Bruce Arians off of it as he’s had a couple of health scares that have sent him to the hospital.

That has apparently led some people to think that Arians will consider retirement when the year comes to an end. Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports reported over the weekend that “many coaches who know” Arians believe that will be the case, but Arians said otherwise on Monday.

Arians said there “couldn’t be anything further from the truth” during an appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 and brushed off the report by saying that he doesn’t “have that many friends” to talk to about his future plans.

“[General manager Steve Keim] and I are talking a lot about, you know, what pieces do we need to start looking at, getting guys signed up for future contracts, and looking forward to finishing this year and damn sure coaching next year,” Arians said.

Arians did say he believes the stress of the job has contributed to his health issues, but it doesn’t sound like the stress level is going to push him to find another way to spend his days.
