No, I pointed out that 51 only count....at the moment.

But eventually 53 count, and ultimately that's what matters. The top 51 is a temporary measure to help account for the 90 players through camp.

But when we go down to 53 that goes away as does all the benefits regarding cap space.

its top 51 in the offseason

but when the season starts: its your 53 man roster + any players you put on injured reserve + practice squad guys

as a practical matter, the last two guys on the roster count $1.5mm together max, practice squad is a bit north of $1mm for the entire squad for the year.

This is offset by some salary cap credits the team gets for vet minimums. I dont know the exact figures, but if a 6 year vet signs a one year deal for lets say $1.0 mm, for salary cap purposes, it only counts as $850k against the cap.
