[FONT=verdana,sans-serif]BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn dressed in a light orange shirt for his visit to the Cleveland Browns. If he gets his wish, he'll soon have a matching orange helmet.
Quinn, who grew up in Dublin, Ohio, has said he wants to play for the Browns, the team he rooted for as a kid. On Thursday, he spent a few hours touring the team's headquarters and interviewing with coaches.
He arrived in Cleveland on Wednesday night and was taken to dinner by club officials.
The Browns have the No. 3 pick in this month's NFL draft, and they could use it to select Quinn, regarded as the second-best QB prospect behind LSU's JaMarcus Russell.
Russell visited the Browns on Wednesday as did Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, another player who could wind up with Cleveland.
Last month, Browns owner Randy Lerner, general manager Phil Savage and coach Romeo Crennel attended Quinn's workout in South Bend, Ind. The 6-foot-4, 227-pound Quinn, who didn't throw or run at the NFL Combine, was presumed to be the No. 1 overall pick. However, his stock began to fall during last season and he was bypassed in the eyes of most draft experts after Russell outplayed him in LSU's win over the Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl.
Cleveland's quarterback situation is as uncertain as ever. Charlie Frye started most of last season before hurting his wrist. While he was sidelined, backup Derek Anderson played well enough that Crennel said Anderson had earned a chance to win the starting job in training camp this summer.
Also, Savage recently inquired about the availability of Kansas City's Trent Green. The Chiefs are trying to trade the two-time Pro Bowler, who missed eight games last season after suffering a serious concussion on a hard hit in the opener.
Quinn or Russell could fall to the Browns, depending on what Oakland and Detroit decided to do with the respective No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks. Crennel is likely to get a strong endorsement on Quinn from Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis. Crennel and Weis are good friends, having coached on Bill Belichick's staff with the New England Patriots.

Well, as long as Cleveland targets one of those three (Russell, Quinn, Peterson) it leaves us more and more likely to get Thomas.

I guess Savage knew Russell when JaMarcus was an adolescent, and that's where his connection to the Browns stems.

Crennel needs to win this season to keep his job. He's in a tough division with the Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers, so he probably has to go 7-9, maybe 8-8 to keep his job. That's not going to happen if they draft Quinn or Russell, but might if they take Peterson.

I'd put the chance that the Browns draft Thomas at 20%. 55% for Peterson, 10% Quinn, 10% Russell, 5% Adams.

1. Calvin Johnson
2. Joe Thomas
3. Adrian Peterson
4. Gaines Adams
5. ??? No way we'd be able to trade out of this spot, either.

I agree with you on keeping his job. If he wants at least one more year, they will have to select one of the QB's.

Both the QBs dropping -- that would be interesting

I wouldnt give up on being able to trade out if that is the case

Washington made a big show about going to Russell's workout, and Synder is crazy enough to take him regardless of Jason Campbell (just like they took Campbell when they had Ramsey)

Again-- Miami and Minny are the likely suspects, particulalry if their POV is that they LOVE Russell and merely like Quinn. They probably figure that they would have to get ahead of Washington to be assured of Russell.

I wouldnt bet my last dollar on it, but put it in the 40% range.

If they get Green then drafting a QB won't automatically kill Crennel's season. If they go in with Frye/Anderson and the draft a QB, they are done for this year. I don't think the Browns are going to take Peterson. They have Jamal Lewis and really like Jerome Harrison who was a rookie last year. I could even see them taking Calvin Johnson(if the qb's are gone) and pairing him with Braylon Edwards at the WR spot moving Jurevicous to #3.
