I noticed with the play of Darko that McDyess may be avaiable in a trade. Think he has 3 seasons at 5 mil a year left. Could he be a bandaid until Amare returns or would the risk be too high. A trade could probably be done with the trade exception. Think he could help our team if he is healthy

I am sure Detroit would rather trade Darko.

hmmmm interesting point...

i think they will give Darko about 30 games of regular season action before they do this trade unless Flip doesn't like Dice's game...

I might do it but im sure there are implications im just not thinking about right now....

Only way Dumars trades Dice Is If the pistons would make their team better. A championship team like that for one wouldn't trade him to another team who are looking to win it all and last of all wouldn't do it for a TE. why make their bench weaker?

I made this proposal in another post on a different thread.

Dice went to Detroit for two reasons, to play for Larry Brown (mainly because he liked him as a coach at the Olympics) and to win a championship. He got close to the championship last year and little did he know he could have helped the Suns get to the finals as well. Brown is gone and so may be his playing time. I don't see Dice having the same role with the Pistons this year. As I pointed out earlier, Detroit acquired two players in the off season that may cut into his playing time, Dale Davis and Jason Maxiel. Giving up on Darko would be a tough pill for Dumars to swallow, ask Kiki about Skita.

I would all for reacquiring Dice for the 3rd time and it was mistake not to sign him over Q in 2004. Q cut into JJ's ego and was eventually traded for Kurt Thomas. So we signed Q (instead of extending JJ), when we could have kept Dice instead of trading Q away and a 1st rounder. It still befuddles me how Bryan got executive of the year.

I'd much rather have Kurt Thomas than Antonio McDork and a late first-round pick. I have no problem with how things have turned out on that front.

you just know he would suffer another devastating knee injury the second of Phoenix Suns acquired him. No thank you to Antonio McDyess at $5 million per. We need Alton Ford back in the fold :).

How about adding McDyes to Kurt Thomas and Amare. I realize I am harping on the past but the trio could make a good rotation in the future.

Since you just explained how the Suns used McDyess's money on Richardson, who begat Thomas, how would you propose to bring that trio together?

I realize I am harping on the past but the trio could make a good rotation in the future.

Which future is that -- the one where McDyess gets injured again, or the one where he starts whining again about his role on the team?

Joe, "We need Alton Ford back in the fold"

Right now we could use him! Well, at least, we could use a big basketball player who liked to go to the hoop as much as he did.

McDyess wouldn't be all that much help now since he's primarily a jump shooter and we have too many of those already. I don't think his offensive game would fit well with Amare's - KT's style fits better. At least, on paper.

I think I'd call KT "primarily a jump shooter", too...

Very true, of course, but KT works very well off the 'pick & pop' which leads to opportunities for other players, while Dice primarily scores on isolated jumpers.

Kurt's also good at the two man game, though I don't know if we'll see him doing that much with the Suns. He would be a prolific setter of off-ball screens if D'Antoni had the good sense to include such things in his grand scheme on offense. Actually, I'm hoping that KT will educate him a little.

didn't somebody mention (i think it was his college coach) that KT has actually a nice arsenal of post up moves also. Only it wasn't used in NY.

I could be wrong either.

Do you all not realize that Dice battered the Suns after he signed with Detroit? That's not the first time he's done that. Go back and do your research. There's no way the Suns trade for his a$$ again.

i don't think the suns wanted him at all in the marbury trade
he was a throw in, salary cap wise

they did 'heal' his knee, but only because he was their player

management didn't necessarily wanted him back then either

That's right. In fact no one in Phoenix wants him other than a few lovesick fans who still can't get over the relationship they thought they had with him.

I don't know about that. I was under the impression that the Phoenix Suns would have liked to have brought back Antonio McDyess. Pages didn't have the money to do it after signing Steve Nash and Q. They certainly were never going to give make device that ridiculous contract he got from Detroit. I don't care if he is completely healthy through the life of that contract. The guy's knees are ticking time bombs.

He's not the type of big man I would be looking for at this point.

The contract Dice got from Detroit was maybe the steal of the summer. he was a big part of the pistons last year and averaged 10 and 5...including averaging a double double when he started.

Mcdyess is the best bench big man in the NBA.
