I heard Ronnie Mac was very angry since he did not see the field in Tampa Bay.

I think that is it for Mac in Ari.

That really blows.

Not really. I loved Ronnie but it is time to part ways. All he would do is keep a younger, better, more athletic Hayes off the field!

Yeah...But he atleast deserves to be on the field for the last drive of the ball game. How fitting would that have been if you got the INT to seal the game

All good things must come to an end.... The team was playing to win not to make people feel good

He didnt deserve to be in the last drive of the game at all. TB was still trying to score and Win in the last drive of the game for them. We were still trying to win the game, and you put in the best players and Hayes is the better player.

Not to mention we dont need a so called leader anymore, Berry has been annointed of that for some time now.

I agree. All he's done all year is keep Hayes off the field. Hayes finally plays a good portion of the game and has 10 tackles to show for it. Hayes is the future @ mike. Not to say I don't respect the things Mckinnon has done. It's just that this was long overdue.

You know I read this right after the Tampa Bay game also. I was at the game and I saw Clancy P. send in McKinnon a couple of times and then quickly change the defensive set where McKinnon and another player would come right back out 5 seconds later. He went onto the field, just didn't stay out long enough for the play.

I would have to think it wasn't McKinnon, just the defensive strategy.

I'm all for letting Rmac go, but his leadership skills is the one thing that we'll miss. It helps to have more than one veteran leader on a team.

It's tough but eventually it happens to almost every player. Even Jr.Seau left San Diego. Really makes it hard for players and teams to remain on good terms at the end of their careers.

RM was a great guy to have at MLB when the Cards DLine was so weak they had to have someone who could run guys down from behind or sideline to sideline. But now they need someone who can fill the holes, blow up plays at the line of scrimmage, and help out in pass coverage and McKinnon has never been very good at doing that.

Defensive rank in yards allowed during RMacs time with the team:
19,26,21,22,26,27,29,25,12. Points allowed is even worse never ranking higher than 22nd until 2004.

We'll never know how good he really was as he played on probably the worst group of defenses ever assembled in the NFL.

One of my favorite players but Ronnie Mac knows his time here in the desert is done. We are having a youth movement and his skills doesn't suit the defense anymore. We need a fast MLB that goes sideline to sideline and can drop back with faster RB and TE.

He was one of my favorite players also, but this isn't Rudy.

I hope the Cards handle this better than they did when they got rid of Larry Centers. After 9 years and leaving his guts on the field in every game (He played in 141 out of a possible 144 games in his career), he deserves some formal recognition from the Cards. Maybe a position in their hall of fame when they open the new stadium (as does Centers).

Even though his time is up with the Cards, they don't need to treat him like discarded garbage. Loyalty is a hard thing to find in professional sports and is a valuable commodity. Recognize him, kiss him goodbye, and let him move on.

All winning teams need a couple of Rudy's.

But when your roster is comprised mainly by Rudy types, the problem is that you'll wind up with a team that tries really really hard, but lacks the over all talent-level to win consistently.

I think this has happened to the Cardinals under Vince and Mac. (And, what the hey! Rudy types are much more cap-friendly than high-profile guys).

MacDawg tried really really hard and tended to come up big in every third or fourth game. I'd put Russell Davis (unless everyone's comfortable that his higher level of play during the second half of the season will continue into the future) in the same category.

Their gritty play has made it difficult for management (out of both principle and sentimentality) to make the necessary moves to upgrade the MLB and NT positions. This in turn has put the franchise in a conundrum - i.e. how do you upgrade your squad without losing some of your inspirational leadership?

Thats why I I love Green, no more of this Coach Rah Rah, one heartbeat crap. Green wan'ts to Win bottomline. Thats I want to see happen as a Cards Fan, So if losing McKinnon helps this team win, then I'm all for it, not sentimental about it at all.

I would like to see the Cardinals hire McKinnon as an assistant linebackers coach. He's always been on over achiever and a class act. What better type of assistant coach could you ask for. For that matter I wouldn't mind seeing the Cardinals hire Larry Centers or Emmitt Smith as assistant coaches either.

I don't think he's ready to hang'em up yet. It wouldn't surprise me to see Marmie lobby to get him in St. Louis. Their LB corp blows so he could be an upgrade there. Plus, I think he's p-o'd at Denny for not playing him in the last game so I can't see him wanting any part of Denny anymore.

You have a good point. Ronnie Mac may not take that job even if it's offered to him. Denny Green may be a good coach, but he's even better at rubbing people the wrong way. I would not be surprised either to see Marmie go after Mac.
