‘DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN’ showrunner Dario Scardapane compares the show to ‘THE PENGUIN’:“We're even more grounded, even less stylized, even more rooted in the here and now. I loved ‘The Penguin’. We're a little faster, meaner, cleaner in our storytelling.”(Source: https://gamesradar.com/entertainment/sci-fi-movies/daredevil-born-again-showrunner-teases-that-the-mcu-show-is-even-more-grounded-than-dc-spin-off-the-penguin-going-as-far-as-a-disney-plus-show-has-ever-gone/)

Yeah, I read an article filled with quotes from this showrunner. Let me just say that I am now highly concerned about the direction this show will take. Still giving it a shot but lowering expectations. By a lot.

I don't think this is a bad thing. I took this to mean sticking to street level action and focusing on the Kingpin rather than dealing with mystical stuff like the Hand.

“I really feel that Netflix’s Daredevil, which I know in my blood, was much more noir, and this show is more New York crime story."

Problem is, that is one of the major reasons I loved the show. Taking this away will harm the show, IMO.

“One of our edicts was longer scenes,” Scardapane recalled of his time on The Punisher. “You had these long five-page scenes of characters hashing it out in order to make space between these massive action sequences. The way stuff has evolved since then, we’re able to do big action sequences at a lot more pace.”

Great! More action and less substance :sarcasm:

Maybe this doesn't harm the show too much. Maybe it's different but equally as good. I was excited to see they were getting the band back together and whatnot. Now? The excitement level has dropped considerably.

A comment on Season 3 of Daredevil: I despise any show that decides to do side quests in other properties that don't give the viewer a tangible bridge between the actual show's season's. To wit, I had completely forgotten that the Defenders took place after Season 2 and before Season 3 of Daredevil. No freaking clue what was going on and I was questioning if I was on the first episode. Terrible, terrible story telling.

I don't read much into this at all. How many times have we seen people jump to conclusions about stuff before it's release and be completely wrong? The original show runners were involved from what I understand. They had a huge task into revamping what was already shot without throwing it all away. So, from that standpoint alone I have to temper my expectations.

However, if it remotely feels like the original show? I am good.

Like Crisis of infinite earths, with Flash, Arrow, Supergirl,...and I think Legends...
one episode to the next there are major changes and if you didnt bounce to each series to watch their episode you have no idea why these things changed.

Man, I have to say, Season 3 has been a discombobulated slog in the re-watch. Just completely disjointed from Season 2. First Season = magnificent. Second Season = pretty good. Third Season = blah so far. Maybe a change up will be good.

I thought s1 was really good, s2 was great, and s3 was an absolute mess. I never finished it. I've tried a few times and just can't.

Welp, this show sucks out loud. Lasted less than half an hour, and it would have been far less, although I watched longer in hopes that the writers weren't complete morons. Spoiler: They are complete morons.

Yeah, you assure the fans that Foggy and Karen HAVE to be back, then you freaking fridge Foggy immediately? fudge you, I'm out.

You seem to be largely in the minority with critics and fans. It has an 82% Critic score and a 94% fan score. I have not watched it yet.

Have we met? :) IDGAF about the critics and other fans. I care about my own viewing pleasure. I don't want to spoil it, but it was a shameful pack of lies the show runner told just to sucker viewers back in. Eff that liar and eff this show. That's really crappy story telling with a minor character, let alone...well, I shall say no more.

Dude, spoilers!

Yes, that was Bullseye and it sounds like he's going on trial. I'm not sure, because I quit. Also, yeah, how fudged is it that he promised to bring back Foggy and Karen, only to kill Foggy before the opening credits and, I hear, to send Karen to LA?
