I like Micah. I really do.

I'm not going to sit here and bash on him like some drunk Yankee fan would (i.e. "Yer a bum! Get outta here, ya bum!). Nothing like that.

Micah is trying. He is trying his brains out and it just isn't working. I truly believe no one feels it harder than Micah.

That being said: Micah, you are not a Major League pitcher. I have two words for you: Rick Ankiel. Suggest it to management, move to 1st or left. Make something of your career before it is gone, because it is slipping away.

You are a baseball player, so play baseball the only way you still can. Step away from pitching.

I posted that quite awhile ago, HarleyRider, using Ankiel as an example, and got blasted here.

A decision has to be made soon with Scherzer due to return. Scherzer has to go back into the starting rotation. The third lowest ERA of all D'backs starters this year. Then a sore shoulder when put into irregular long relief.

I want to go on record with a prediction that, unless he is traded, Micah Owings will be sent to the Minors with the opportunity to return as a 1B or corner OF (as you suggested).

And that he will successfully . . . for some team.

Weren't you blasted because you suggested replacing Jackson with Owings? Is this still your suggestion? Where does Owings play on this team as an everyday player? LF is taken, so is RF. Right now we have three 1Bmen on the team already.

I don't think Micah would make it as a 1B or as a OF. I just think he's a good hitter as a pitcher but thats it. I think if he were an everyday guy like Ankiel, he wouldn't have that great bat or average. Thats just my take. Micah has shown some good stuff as a pitcher. I just think he's inconsistent and thats where it gets sour. Are we giving up so quickly?

I am looking beyond today. Whether it will be with the Diamondbacks or in a trade (involving who knows) to fill one of our needs (middle of the batting order power), I believe that Mikah Owings' best potential is as a position player.

He's also shown us that he is a good fielder. Did you see the good play he made, not playing 1B, but coming over to cover 1B as a pitcher?

I am not surprised that his hitting has diminished. Pitchers and pitching coaches throughout the league catch up with all hitters who make a great first impression. The hitter has to make adjustments. Some do, some don't.

Picture how much harder it is on a Pitcher who is in the starting rotation every fifth day (if he is performs well), or on call for either long relief or pinch-hitting.

That's why I'd like to see him sent to Tucson and play every day. Let's see how he does.

Then we worry about who's playing where. There will probably be some different faces on the team by then.

Rick Ankiel is no longer being measured as a good hitting Pitcher. He's a position player, with higher expectations at bat . . . and has really come through. Owings could, too.

Now Owings is in Tucson, where he can play more. Before we abandon his pitching ability, he must work on getting whatever is wrong with his pitching fixed. I remember last season, players would get sent down there for a month or so, come back up to the big club and perform much better. We need to see that happen with Owings, send him below for the makings.

He's a pitcher period! He pitched well last season and early this season he just needs to work something out. Let him do it in AAA and we will see him soon, geez people need to have some patience he is young.

Exactly, why rush to say he wont make it and yadda yadda. Give him a chance. He's shown flashes of awesome talent. More than flashes. And he has a solid bat for a pitcher. But, let him work out whatever he needs to, and hopefully he can come back up and be better prepared.
