I find it hard to believe any conversation with Larry Brown is taking place in which Brown is NOT the one doing the talking.

Why would you even consider this guy? He will just up and bolt on your team at the first hint of trouble or if he gets sick of it. This guy doesn't "stick" any place.

i honestly dont see what's with all the hype in Larry Brown.

it seems like EVERY team he goes to has trouble.....and when the players have had enough of him, or vice versa he splits.

Philly - Iverson and the team was tired of him, adios
Detroit - he pretty much bailed on them in the middle of a playoff run
NY - bailed on them in after causing the most turmoil i've EVER seen.

he just leaves a trail of hatred where ever he goes.

I can not imagine anyone hiring Brown anymore. He has lost touch with todays players and causes more problems than he fixes.

Interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brown actually winds up back on the bench as Head Coach of the Sixers, with Cheeks being bumped up to an executive role. If this doesn't play itself out, I suspect the Maloofs will open up the purse to get Brown.

As for Memphis's next coach, I think they should take a good look at Sacramento assistant Phil Johnson or Dallas assistant Sam Vincent (who would run a style quite similar to Avery).

That Pistons team loved Larry Brown, most of the teams that he coaches go through a cycle where they are bad, he gets them to play together, they play well and then he bolts. If I were Memphis, I would embrace him and hope that the second coach could build on his improvements.

Detroit - he pretty much bailed on them in the middle of a playoff run
NY - bailed on them in after causing the most turmoil i've EVER seen.

he just leaves a trail of hatred where ever he goes.

Let's see ...

He won regular season divisions in the Western and Eastern conference in the ABA in the early 70s ...

He won Midwest Division championships with the Denver Nuggets ...

In 1980 he led UCLA to the NCAA championship game in his first year ...

In 1986 he took Kansas to the Final Four in only his second year, and in 1988 he led Danny Manning and a bunch of nobodies to win the NCAA championship ...

He won division championships with San Antonio ...

He won a division championship with Indiana ...

He's the only coach who took Iverson to the NBA Finals, a feat that seemed impossible considering the challenge of structuring a team around a guy that shoots 42 percent ...

He took the Pistons to an NBA championship and an NBA runner up ...

He has succeeded wherever he's been except with the Knicks. And when I say he succeeded, he's got an NBA title, and NCAA championship, three conference championships, three Final Fours, and 1,000 NBA wins.

The ONLY place he hasn't succeeded is New York. Yes, he cheated in college. Yes, he never finishes what he started. But you'd be hard-pressed to find an NBA team or program he left in worse shape (the Knicks). Anyone who hires him will not see a more impressive resume. Not even by a long shot. What's Iavaroni going to compete with? "Uh, well, I've coached under a lot of famous head coaches who won a lot of games ... "

for being such a great coach, he certainly wears his welcome EXTREMELY fast.

1.) he bailed on san antonio mid season for whatever reason (after only 3 1/2 season), only to join the clippers as head coach in 91. he only lasted with the clips for 1 1/2 seasons

2.) he left indiana after the 96 season, where they were 39-43. he lasted there 4 seasons. Larry Bird coached pretty much the same team the following year to 58 wins

3.) he lasted in Philly the longest. and dispite Iverson and Brown's fued, they somehow made it to the finals in 2000. he never won more than 48 games with them after. i must also add that during his time there guys like Todd MacCulloch, Aaron McKie and Kevin Ollie were all given stupid contracts.

4.) he then leads Detroit to the championship his first season, and finals his second. i believe it was either at the end of season, or during the playoffs run, brown pretty much said he was leaving the team for the knicks. oh, and Flip Sanders led this team to 64 wins the following season.

5.) Brown destroys the knicks.

6.) Brown has been fired/bought out and paid over $30mil dollars from his 2 previous teams.

I think there's only one person who can take the bulk of responsibility for that. He was there long before Brown, and he's there now with a big, dopey grin on his face, still talking it up like he knows what he's doing.

but you cannot deny that Brown pretty much did his part well in ruining the face of the knicks.

he also did his part in absolutely KILLING the team's chemistry, and the players psychology.

Pretty much everyone expected the Isaiah - Brown combo to be a disaster, and they didn't disappoint us. Not to mention the overpaid misfits that LB had to work with...

If I were Memphis or any other team looking for alternative options my first call wouldn't be to Larry Brown... it would be to the recently unemployed Rick Carlisle. I think one of them will end up coaching the Kings... and it won't make a damn bit of difference. But if Carlisle ends up coaching the Bobcats I can see them making huge strides of improvement. Or if the Cats' pry Mitchell away from Toronto the Raptors would be deadly if they learned some defensive chemistry.

But I guess the point is Carlisle > Brown at this point.

7. ) Brown messed up the olympic BB team by not playing the good younger players like Stoudemire.
