Holy Crap.

Kansas hits the 3 with 2 seconds left to go to OT.

Those missed FT's may be the difference.

I had this final 2 in my picks and took Kansas because of free throws. Didn't think the refs would call a foul all night. Deliberate fouls did the trick.

Could the story be written any better? Memphis chokes because they can't shoot free throws. I love it, I can't stand Memphis.

Now Self can take Boone Pickens' $10 million and move to Oklahoma St.

Just saw the crawl on the bottom of ESPN. The big offer is coming. Damn, that was fast. Wonder if he already has a deal in his pocket?

Memphis must have gone to the Amare Stoudemire school of clutch free throw shooting. :p

Congrats to Kansas great comeback. For Memphis god is that the biggest choke in Championship game history? Webber's TO ranks up there I guess but they were losing at the time, Memphis was up 9 with 2 minutes to go and up 7 with a minute and lost.

Has to be right at the top of all-time "chokes". Those kids surely won't sleep well for days thinking about those missed free throws. It's amazing in basketball how often missed free throws bite you in the butt. I just had a feeling Kansas was going to hit a 3 to put it into OT. That was a hell of a 3 too. It was contested.

Kansas is a more likeable team than Memphis, so I was glad they won.

I don't think it was a choke, Memphis' FT shooting simply went back to normal. You can only buck the odds for so long. Congrats to KU, they exorcised some pretty big demons this weekend.

When your best players go 1 for 5 with a chance to ice the game, that's a bit more than just percentages evening out IMO. Plus, even with the missed FTs, someone for Memphis should've had their head in the game enough to foul before Kansas could shoot a 3. A foul, just past half court, more than likely would've won the game for them too. Kansas would've had to try an intentional miss.

Memphis, particularly Rose looked totally gassed... Once they built that lead, they looked like they had cement in the shoes...

I guess, but analysts had been saying for months that Memphis' FT shooting was going to hurt them come Tounament time. It shouldn't come as a surprise that their biggest flaw as a team ultimately let them down. As far as the fouling thing goes, every coach differs on that strategy and I really can't say if one is better than the other. Memphis did defend on the last play pretty well.

Very hard to minimize that game tying shot. That was the same shot Davidson needed and didn't make. Now maybe we can see less of Laettner's shot and more of this one for the next 10 years.

I guess by choke I mean Memphis' players made some really dumb decisions late that killed them. The dumb foul by Dorsey that gave Chalmers 2 points and fouled him out. The inbounds pass that Collins stole it appeared the guy wasn't paying attention when he passed it.

And the one Packer briefly commented on the hit ahead to CDR where he inexplicably attacked the rim and drew a foul instead of just dribbling away time off the clock. Packer was right if it is not an uncontested layup there you don't go in for the shot. IIRC he missed both FT's too.

We'll never know for sure but I sure didn't like how Calipari immediately blamed Rose in effect by saying we were supposed to foul my guy just didn't get it done. Sure didn't look to me like Rose was trying to foul he was just trying to harass Collins.

Great game congrats to Kansas.

Now comes the usual offseason where everyone tries to convince their kids to stay, but now Kansas has to convince their coach too.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!!

Firstly, for every "choke" Memphis had, Kansas had to execute in order for it to even be an issue. Regardless, there was an extra 5 mins of game for Memphis to pull ahead again and win, they ended up losing by 7 and it didn't even seem that close.

Secondly, Self could leave, but I don't think he will. He's got security at one of the top 3 programs in history. He was going to get a bump from winning the NC and now OSUs counter-offer is going to add to that a bit, but I doubt the $6M bonus/$4M per is a real figure.
