He says that people are blaming the owner for being cheap, but in his opinion Denny has had 3 years to bring his own people so this falls directly on Dennys shoulders ...

Also said that he didn't like the way Leinart went into a fetal position when he was getting hit ... said that he needs to continue to stand in there looking to make a play ...

I do blame Denny for not addressing the Oline ...

I can't really blame Leinart for going down because hes not comfortable with the offense yet and didn't know where all his outlet guys were .. this week should be a little different because he is getting some work with the first team ...

If I'm reading what Hoge said correctly he's agreeing with you, the problem is not what we're paying the OL, it's that they suck and Green built it so the problem is on Green?

Crud... I reread the post and I see now. Where you can fault ownership is their inability to draft and develope lineman. It forces the team to pay for average at best players to above average contracts.

This is actually good news. Hoge knows very little about the NFL in terms of predicting success. One thing that really stands out is he was adamant that the Eagles would not even sniff the playoffs a couple years ago when they went to the Super Bowl. And its not like they were unknown commodity. That was their fourth straigh NFC championship game that year. He also didn't think Cutler and Leinart were first round QB's and said that Vince Young should have been drafted in the 4th round as a wide reciever.

A grain of salt may be to big to listen to his thoughts.

Our oline does suck though.

Matt Leinart

While not directly related, my recollection is that Hoge was not a fan of ML at the time of the Draft. He had him ranked, either third or fourth (Clemens) of the QB's coming out. I believed he cited arm strength and mobility as his rationale. To base an opinion on his play, less than a quarter, doesn't seem to make sense, even if his opinion is valid. As for the OL, it doesn't take a brain surgeon/football analyst to make that assessment. One thing the OL does, somewhat well, is pass block. Many of the sacks, IMO, occured because KW held the ball too long. We'll see if there is any improvement, this week.

Have a hard time disagreeing with Hoge re the O-line. Think he's all wet regarding Leinart.
