In a draft with questionable wide receiver talent at the top, Miami's Xavier Restrepo was a name to watch ahead of April's 2025 NFL draft. However, Restrepo's stock may have taken a hit on Monday due to a slower-than-expected time in the 40-yard dash.
Restrepo reportedly ran a 4.83-second 40 at Miami's Pro Day at 5-foot-10, 209 pounds. This led to much discussion on social media, with some even debating whether the 40 times made Restrepo undraftable. Restrepo, a decorated college receiver for the Hurricanes who was projected No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward's favorite target in 2024, responded to the discussion of his 40 times on X.
In five seasons with the Hurricanes, Restrepo caught 200 passes for 2,844 yards, averaging 14.2 yards per reception, and caught 21 touchdowns. In 2024, Restrepo finished with 69 receptions for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns with Ward as his quarterback. Over his final two seasons at Miami, Restrepo caught 154 passes for 2,219 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The job of NFL evaluators is to determine if Restrepo's timed speed matches his playing speed. If you've watched any of Restrepo over the last two years, he clearly looks much faster than his timed speed.
Kent Platte, the creator of the Relative Athletic Score, offered the following analysis:
It's not entirely fair to compare Restrepo to Anquan Boldin or Jarvis Landry, as they are different receivers. It's difficult to see Restrepo's testing numbers and not be concerned. However, if Restrepo is still on the board on Day 3, he could become an outstanding value. He can play.
The Washington Commanders could use another young receiver. Restrepo catching passes from Jayden Daniels could be fun. Washington general manager Adam Peters has limited draft picks next month due to trades, so finding value will be imperative.

May want to keep in mind that the 4.83 might even be generous considering we heard times all the way into the low 5s.
Anquan Boldin and Jarvis Landry had great careers running in the 4.7s (though Landry was injured when he ran), but we don't have a successful 4.8+ WR. https://t.co/1JRb41sRol
