of the four reporting on "the meeting"

ill take Kyle O's word over the rest-- best combo of source/access and independence.

Tim Ring makes a good point:

I would be more surprised if there wasn't a heated meeting between the three of them.

This season was an epic collapse. We are Cardinals fans, so we are more conditioned for disappointment than most, but this team failed historically in the second half of the season. Teams just don't go from the best record in the league to the worst team in the playoffs in a matter of 2 months. Not without numerous major injuries, at least. Not making changes would be insane, although I fully expect that to be the case.

Could they be doing Kliff/VJ a solid by not firing or releasing information until after VJ’s interview with Miami tomorrow? Seems like it would be an awkward spot to walk into a pre-scheduled interview only to get fired the day before? Flores case is different as he got fired then was scheduled interviews

I am happy Bidwill had this meeting..what is Gambo trying to prove when all logic says there has to have been a heated meeting.

Wilks was fired immediately after the season’s end. Arians abruptly retired after the Lindley game. Going by history, if KK was gone then he would’ve been fired the moment after the game.

You aren't wrong...and I'm hoping I've been off on Mikey B's learning curve here. I'm all for hoping for the best when it comes to that aspect. That is the true wildcard IMO. Fingers crossed....for all of us.

No idea man. Bidwill seems kinda knee jerky with losing, which is nice. But, can cut both ways. If he doesn't learn that his meddling and involvement is part of the problem, then we're all effed. I personally think he can get there...just matters if and when.

I really dont think anything will happen but for a wild guess maybe after VJ meets with Miami or until prospective candidates are out of the playoffs and are available to interview?

First off no clue on this meeting, Gambo is a clown and the organization prefers controlling the news so not surprised on the push back. But Odegard worked there for years, he's fairly reliable.

Bidwill has been loud about Kliff though in recent weeks, the issue however is that nobody saw this collapse coming so we really don't have any replacements lined up. Generally the back channels are worked for weeks/months before a coach or GM gets fired so the candidates are somewhat vetted and the candidates who would say yes are ready to go and have done their research on the team/ownership, lined up support staff, etc. Only possible exception would be a former BA staffer I guess where this wouldn't need to be done or promoting VJ. So there might not be an avenue to firing him.

EDIT - Keim also has a softer spot for Kliff than MB does for whatever reason. That also handicaps a coaching search because as much as MB meddles, he doesn't meddle enough to have contacts around the league and agents to conduct a clandestine maybe coaching search. It really boils down to the lack of competency in the front office over there - even if your coach is going 14-2 every season you always, always have a short list ready to go just in case.

I'm not stating he is like anything. We know they are buddy buddy. That's probably a tough thing to give up. Keim also probably plays to his every demand for the nice cushy job/paycheck. So there are a lot of factors involved. Just saying I'm hoping Mike B can realize it sooner rather than later

Yes a franchise CEO shouldn't be buddy/buddy with his GM, its a nfl franchise not a beauty center

It's probably easier to understand if we just put ourselves in that spot.. yes men are a thing for a reason. People generally like being told yes. Psychology thing. But we just have to hope Mike is understanding he'll get more results when people tell him no.

Michael doesn't want 'yes men' per se, he's accepting of differing opinions as much as any lifelong wealthy dude who has had his boots licked since he could walk. And that is some differing opinions but not too much and definitely not in an offensive manner.

He just wants to be involved and have his seat at every table. That's a non-starter for a good chunk of talented front-office types around the league.

Well, I'll take your word for it...and if so, then thats the best thing possible. But, if he's a non starter with his personality and involvement then that kinda proves the same point. He needs to step aside for the betterment of the franchise. Be involved, but not. Hire people to do their jobs and trust it.

Haha yes. Gambo the clown has run hit pieces on literally every former DBack and you could field a World Series winning team with a roster of those guys. Dude's a joke.
This town thinks "he breaks stories" a lot. Every story and every information Gambo puts out looks like it was written by the local teams PR group. What was the last story Gambo broke that didn't benefit the team?
