Michigan basketball excitedly started the day by winning the Big Ten Conference tournament championship.
While the Wolverines celebrated getting into the NCAA Tournament when the CBS broadcast showed them as a No. 5 seed, fans were more upset on social media, considering that Wisconsin, who the Wolverines beat in the conference championship game, earned a No. 3 seed.

Michigan finished with a 25-9 record, which included two wins over Wisconsin. However, the Badgers finished 26-9 and earned a No. 3 seed. The Wolverines will take on No. 12 UC San Diego State (30-4) in the first round, while Wisconsin draws No. 14 Montana (25-9).
The Tritons enter with a NET ranking of 35, which means that on a neutral site, the Wolverines open the tournament with a Quad-1 game, giving them as tough a first-round draw as anyone. Michigan is 12-7 in Quad-1 games this season.

Social media reacts to Michigan No. 5 seed in NCAA Tournament
Michigan has the fourth-most Quad 1 wins, won the Big Ten Tournament, is 24-9 and beat 3-seed Wisconsin twice ... and is a 5.
And gets a top-40 KenPom team in UC San Diego.
I'm stumped!

Lol, Michigan gets a 5-seed because the Committee phoned in the bracket before the Big Ten Championship finished.

Michigan has 2 wins against Wisconsin & 2 wins against Purdue.
Wisconsin is a 3-seed. Purdue is a 4-seed.
Michigan has 11 Quad 1 wins. Only 3 teams in America have more. They won the Big Ten. They have no bad losses.
Being a 5-seed in Denver is an absolute joke.

Michigan just won the big ten tournament in the final game before this selection show. But they are a #5 seed and have to play Thursday? The NCAA is such a crock.

Michigan had the fourth-most Quad 1 wins in the country while Wisconsin went .500 in Quad 1 games. Michigan also beat Wisconsin twice head-to-head, once in Madison and again in the Big Ten tournament title game.
But Wisconsin is a No. 3 seed while Michigan is a No. 5 seed…?

Michigan as a 5 seed is just further evidence of how the Big Ten tournament means absolutely nothing. Silly.

Michigan beats Wisconsin twice and wins the B1G tourney and gets a 5 seed. Wisconsin gets the 3 seed.
Make it make sense.
