Mike Fisher is ready to retire his hockey jersey, for real this time. The Nashville Predators captain has announced he's re-entering retirement — he rejoined the team halfway through its 2017-2018 season. Fisher had originally announced he was retiring from the sport at the end of the Predators run during the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals, but decided to return to the ice in January with encouragement from his wife, Carrie Underwood, and the team's manager and coach. In a sentimental post on Instagram on Monday (May 21) (with a gallery of photos commemorating his time with the Nashville team, including one of the couple's son Isaiah proudly cheering him on) Fisher thanks those who have helped him in his journey.
