If you have not read this I think it is a good read wrote by someone that understands our needs:

...not my cup of tea at all. I think Mayock was looking at dated film. This past year was NOT so great. He's a systems quarterback whose tendency is JUST what we heard about ML..can't convince me "he can make all the throws" at the highest level. Another guy who could make all the throws out of a pro style offense...his initials are MH and was not drafted.

Are you talking about Gabbert? I don't see the comparison.

Yes I am. Receivers YAC down last year among other things. Saw enough of him not to be impressed...one man's opinion. Not a fan of any of the big names this year. Mechanics, tools and athleticism...Newton wins that hands down, but I wouldn't draft him for Cards either.

I'm not a huge fan, but he's nothing like ML or MH. Much bigger than Hall and not a prima dona like ML and comes from a spread not a pro style offense.

But I agree, Skelton+Vet next year and draft defense at #5.

And draft a qb in another round.

How about...

"If you look at the last three years, NFL teams have done a really good job with their first-round quarterbacks. There's been like six hits in a row with no busts, which probably means we're due for a couple of busts."

With all of the doubt around so many of these "first round" QBs this year, it is a good time to call for a bust. But, if that is your belief stop pushing the QBs on us in every mock.

Fairley, but we all know he won't be there. Or one of the lb's.

I'm not sold on the QB's in this years draft yet. Especially when compared to the tools Skelton has.

CB....I think our secondary will be much improved with the methodology switch. So it's hard to tell whether or not we really need to spend that high of a pick there, and no cb has shown me that sort of talent. Perhaps they are, and I just haven't seen enough, which I'm sure I haven't seen enough (it's still feb), but no cb has shown me they are worth that much. DRC was a good pick. From where we are picking, that guy better be 230 and lay wood, as well as have the speed and coverage ability of DRC. I just haven't seen that yet from the cb's.

But my gut is lb. Fairley won't be there, and we're going to be a 3-4. If you don't have lb's in a 3-4, odds are you're only going to get 3-4 wins. We need to make sure our lb core is up to speed and with depth.

I know fairley would be a waste too, but the guy imo has too much talent to pass up. Just way too much.
