Hair-Edge to Kiper with the Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii look going on.

Ties-Edge to Mayock because he has the kahunas to wear pink ties.

Eyes-Major edge to Mayock because Kiper squints like a raven.

Draft knowledge-Fairly even but edge to Mayock

Entertainment factor-Mayock is a better evaluator but Kiper is more entertaining.

Who wins in a fist fight-Mayock kicks Kiper's ass!

I just needed to talk about something other than the 26th pick. I actually love both guys and admire that they have made a pretty good living doing what each and every one of us would die to do.

In terms of knowledge i love both guys' deep knowledge of the game, the draft system and college football. They are both a credit to their profession in that regard. In terms of personalities i like Kiper's aloofness and the weird faces he at times makes when being a bit sarky. Mayock seems a little too clean cut for me.

I have to admit to downloading ESPNs Draft Podcast with Mel Kiper Jnr each week. I find him very entertaining and passionate. Love the crazy way he talks.
I know draftniks seem to rate Mayock pretty highly, though. If Mayock had a podcast, I'd be listening to him too cos I'm a draft junkie.

I love Mel's radio work as well. People love to rag on him for his weirdness, but in reality the guy knows the draft inside and out and if there is one guy who made the draft the super event that is now is, its Mel Kiper. He was doing this stuff long before anyone else and his outlandish antics helped to create the mania that is the NFL Draft.

He really is a terrific radio guy period. He is very good at talking about all types of sports.

If I had to pick one guy who made me the NFL fanatic that I am today, its Mel Kiper and for that reason alone I will always have a fondness for him. As for Mayock, I just think he is a genius with the draft process. The guy is obviously incredibly smart and to me seems like a guy who just loves evaluating football talent.

I'd take Mayock over Kiper or any other ESPN nfl draft analyst any day of the week. I refuse to watch ESPN during the draft, NFL Network or bust.

Incidentally can we follow the draft online via the Nflnetwork or is it for members only? I know MLB.com usually have their draft available for free.

If you could get a network that had Shefter, Kiper, & Mayock for the draft...sweet Odin's beard that would be awesome. I think Mayock is a better scout than any other guy out there, but Kiper did make the Draft what it is today. I hate that I have to pick a network and can't get one forum with these two geniuses jabbering for 7 hours about players.

I like both Kiper and Mayock. I got Kiper's draft report and it really is impressive. The best by far but not cheap.

They are both good at what they do. Mayock is just much less pompass about it.

I really do not know squat in this draft about who the Cards might draft. I do think Kiper likely has the best and largest research staff out there. Based on that, I would give more credence to his forecast than others on a year in year out basis.

Based on history I would speculate the Cards will not trade up or down unless someone really really wanted some player available at our spot when our pick came up.

I also they take the best player available unless the ones available are so close in ability that we can take need.

I will watch closely to see if we take a QB. If they take one round 4 or earlier that tells me they do not have real confidence in Matt.

I do not expect us to win our division this year I am sad to say. Mostly because I have no clue as to how Matt will do. If he is good we can win the division. If he is not then look for one of the backups to take over at mid season. We still do not know much about Matt's durability. QB's have to be tough to withstand a season in the NFL. Matt was QB behind one of the best lines in college football with running backs who are now NFL starters so he has not faced a defense on a regular basis like he will see this year. Being a new starter you can be sure the defenses will test him early and often to see what he is made of. Kurt could take a beating even at his age and get right back up and go at it again. This is more important than most people realize.

After watching the draft on NFL network, and shifting from time to time to ESPN last year, I came away with Mayock being much closer than Kiper to having a line on what the next team was looking for in selections. While Kiper IS very knowlegable about players skills, he is not always so adept on deciphering team needs and tailoring his selections to what that particular team needed. He might have the Best Player Available Selected, but that doesn't always fit with what the team needs are. Mayock seems more suited to being able to find the best player available that fits team needs for that pick.

I have come to really like watching Mayock and Charlie Casserly debate talent together on their show.

As much as Kiper bugs me. There is something nostalgic about watching Kiper on draft day. I'll tune for at least the first couple picks to watch Kiper.

However I must admit that I'd rather watch the NFLN. ESPN has gone down hill fast over the last decade.

there is a great video of all the Koper rants "OH MY GOD this team blew it drafting this guy." Then the guy becomes all pro. I saw it on HBO I think on a show about the draft a few years back.

Other than delivery, I don't see much of a difference. There is a difference between the NFLN and ESPN, however. For sure.
