I just heard Mayock talking about Robert Quinn and he said he expects Quinn to weigh in at nearly 275 pounds and the rumor going around is that he has been consistently running his 40 yard dash times in the 4.4-4.5 range!

Mayock has Quinn moving all the way to the top of his draft board ahead of DeQuan Bowers.

I think Quinn or Bowers needs to be the pick. I'd prefer Bowers, but I don't really care.

6'5 275lb and ran a 4.4!?!? :-O

It's time for the NFL to expand the playing field. 53 yards wide just isn't big enough for today's players. Sorry all of you who have sideline seats in the first 10 rows are just going to have to move.

Impressive! I don't know anything about this kid, however the issue that immediately comes to my mind is performance enhancing?

This is a guy that hasn't been in a football program for over a year, right? He has been outside the bounds of the NCAA, and any other organization, so he has gone a year without any threat of being tested for PED's.

Having said that, if he is sitting there at No. 5, he would be my pick!

Any team picking him has to be sure about his cycle, if there is one.

Call an expert. Pay some $$$$ to know for sure.

I've always liked him. If the Cards go defense at #5 he would be a nice pick.

275 is probably too big for an OLB. Hopefully a team like the Bengals takes him to keep him at 4-3 end, where he'll make more of an immediate impact (if he makes one at all). I wonder if he'll wear those black diamond earrings to the draft?

True. But Denver's Ayers is 275. Hard to believe guys that large can run like they do.

I thought he plays strong-side DE like Calais Campbell does for us? I guess not.

Also, I'm not sure that Robert Ayers is the kind of success story to point to when making the argument for Robert Quinn. :)

Who said he was a success story? He fit because he's 275 not because he's any good. :p

But never forget that somebody had to be the first successful 300lb Offensive lineman.

Tamba Hali, Lamar Woodley is 6'2 265 which is not a whole lot of difference to 6'5 275 when you consider the height. And although he wasn't an OLB, Levon Kirkland who at 6'1 and anywhere between 275-300 pounds during his career proved to be plenty fast and plenty quick

Dropping 10 pounds isn't too hard.

Adding speed? That just doesn't usually happen.

If Quinn runs a 4.4-4.5, he is confirming to me that he should be the pick.

The difference between Bowers and Quinn? Quinn was very good much earlier in his career than Bowers. Bowers was viewed as a bust up until his senior year, since he was the #1 recruit in the nation. I like Bowers, but from watching film, IMO he's a LE in the Peppers mold, where as Quinn looks like he's a RE/OLB.

It's really hard to argue against those measurable s. Especially someone who'll run in the 4.45 range!

Again we need to find out what if any performance enhancers he's used. And If there is a cycle involved there.

Bruce Campbell ran a 4.85 at 314 pounds last year, did 34 reps, and had 32" vertical. That got him drafted in round 4 by Oakland. I'm not to keen on a guy who sat out a year and needs too transition to a new position.

I just don't think Quinn will run a 4.5 beacuse he never showed that great 1st step off the edge to be that quick. I'll say he runs a 4.65, but I'd still live with they guy playing for the Cards.

Quinn was a beast with his first step. His problem is, timing the snap, as he is usually one of the last to react to the snap. His burst off the line when he does move is amazing though.

That problem ended my son's football career. A big tough kid with good instincts for the football but was just slow as Christmas getting off the ball and so blockers were always able to get to him or the play would go right past him.

Decided that Varsity Tennis was a better option.

Yep watch film on him and you'll see that.

At first I thought I was seeing a guy with a quick second step and then I realized that he was just starting after everyone else. He still beat Anthony Castonzo, possibly the best LT in the draft soundly when he faced him.
