Shzm -- in your effort to post inflammatory rhetoric designed to annoy visiting Steeler fans, may I suggest you move on to topic #2: "The Steelers won those Superbowls in the 70s by abusing steroids."

If they make a movie about Super Bowl 43, Woody Harrelson will play Whis and Laurence Fishburne will play Tomlin. And Gary Coleman will play Hines Ward.

Omar Epps plays tomlin, and it isn't even close.

Unless they really are the same guy...which they might be.

I slightly agree.

Tomlin's a little overrated IMO. He's made some mistakes along the way but they're overlooked since he took the team to the SB with a 12-4 season.

What mistakes? Keep in mind that this is my opinion and some of it got some questioning in the press, but they are red flags from where I stand.

1) Twice - once during the Dallas game, we're down by 10 early in the 4th. Our D is stuffing the Cowboys. 4th and goal on the 1 yard line he goes for it. Gets stuffed. Huge mistake IMO. Take the 3 points, get within a TD of tying and play D - especially with practically the entire 4th quarter left. Second time wasn't actionable, but during the Ravens game when Santonio caught that TD pass that put us up late in the 4th after review to see if the ball broke the plane. Afterward, Tomlin was asked if he would have went for it on 4th down if the replay called it a non-TD catch. He first waffled on the question but said in a subsequent interview that he would have gone for it. This is my opinion, but you kick the easy FG, tie the game and play in overtime looking for the D to shut them down if they win the toss.

2) Last game of the season against the stains. Completely meaningless game. Play Ben for a series or two and yank him along with most of the other starters, right? Nope - Mikey keeps them in, some of them for practically the entire game. Unbelievable, total rookie mistake - every HC worth their salt pulls their starters early in a meaningless game heading into the playoffs. Am I frustrated only because Ben was injured with a potential career-ending concussion? Sure, but I was livid late in the 1st quarter that our starters were still out there.

These are huge red flags IMO but Tomlin gets passes because they're winning. My jury is still way out on this guy and I hope he makes more right decisions in the long run.

Every time Ben drops back and scrambles with the rock glued to his hands he risks a career ending concussion. Not a big deal to me. And besides, Tomlin stated before the game that he wanted to give this unit some time to get things together for the postseason because they were lookin out of sync.

I think he's a great coach.........its not easy to win in the AFC let alone the AFC North and he's added two divisional crowns, a Lamar Hunt trophy and soon-to-be Lombardi hardware recipient. I think the jury has reached a verdict.

He gets a lot of crap for putting Ben in that game, but nobody really remembers what happens to most QB's and other players when they don't get any real field time for 3 straight weeks and then have to play in the playoffs. One example is the Colts in '05-'06 when they were 13-3 and Dungy decided to rest all the starters last game of the season even though they had a bye week for the playoffs...remember how well Manning did that game? Not very well at all, aside from a blown Troy INT and a fluke fumble by Bettis, that game was a blow out.

It was just unfortunate timing is all, especially since Ben wasn't going to be coming back in at halftime. I don't blame him at all for having him get some play in (especially after the Titans game). And honestly, the injury may have been a blessing in disguise, am I the only one who noticed the complete 180 the offensive line did the first week back? They actually have been blocking like they are trying to save someones life lol.

Right - but why chance it if you don't have to? Which is pretty much why coaches like Cowher would have sat their starters, why take the risk.

And I don't buy the "they could use the reps" line - if they're not ready by the 16th game, then they're not going to be ready.

Winning the AFC isn't that much of a leap when you consider that he basically inherited a SB contender. Look - I just don't drink the koolaid when someone hands it to me. A lot of fans lack objectivity - not me. I call it like I see it.

What concerns me is that he's going to make the wrong decision yet again when it counts and maybe that costs us a SB or a players career. Watch fans jump off his bandwagon quick when that happens.

Right, like Cowher never made any bad decisions? And in case you didn't see the Titans game...yes they needed to get back in sync before having 2 weeks off, it was obvious.

Cowher had teams that were SB contenders nearly every year he was coach...how many times did he win the Conference game and how long did it take for him to actually win a SB? No true Steelers fan is going to "jump off the bandwaggon" if they don't win this Sunday lol, and for the ones who are bandwaggoners, we don't need them as fans anyhow.

Sure Cowher made bad decisions and had weaknesses, but they were overshadowed by his good decisions and strengths.

Tomlin's done some things right so far, but these are critical mistakes IMO, and they're getting disregarded because they're not costing us anything, which worries me further since he's now being held accountable for questionable decision making.

Ok...so Cowher made bad calls, but they were overshadowed by his good decisions....Tomlin has made bad calls and they are getting disregarded because they aren't costing the team anything....ummmmm, I'm sorry, you're entitled to your opinion, but I'm just not seeing your logic here.

So Cowher gets a pass (even though it took him longer to win and AFC conference game and get to the SB), but Tomlin is questionable because he has helped lead this team (SB condtending team or not) in just his second season?

I bet there are 30 other teams that wish they had this kind of predicament lol. EVERY single HC in the league is going to make questionable calls throughout the season, don't ever expect Tomlin to make the right choice every single time....that's just unrealistic.

Cowher inherited a dog team and built it up. Tomlin inherited a Porsche. Big difference.

No, but I see a trend of bad decisionmaking.

We can agree to disagree, that's cool. I don't expect Steeler fans to agree with me on this, but like I said - way too many fans are koolaid drinkers and lack objectivity.

I can't say I've ever seen two fans from ANOTHER team argue on this board about their team. I see plenty of Cardinals fans infighting though :)

I don't know about fighting, SCM has an opinion and she's stating it. Funny how message forums work.

I can't help if her opinion is wrong.

Meh, it's just a difference of opinion...he has his and that's cool, I even understand where he's coming from, just don't agree with it. As long as we're both Steelers fans at the end of the day, I guess that's all that's important! :D
