I want to keep a running log of movies I see each year, and then add to it. So this is the start to it...and I may comment on some of the ones I've seen in posts below it, but I'll keep updating the rankings each time we see a new movie.

I suggest some of you guys who like mind bender movies, and also like sci-fi in a way, check this one out...very hard to understand, you actually will want to jump online afterwards to read what people have written about what actually happened.

Mike, I am glad to see that someone else saw the Assassination of Richard Nixon. Sean Penn is an awesome actor.

(Did you think he looked more like Spicoli in this than he does in most movies?


I am curious as to your thoughts on the end of the movie. Seemed a bit much. Or it was just too hard to watch.

Yeah, I thought this performance by him was even better than his Mystic River one that everyone went nuts over.

Not sure what you mean by the ending being a bit much...I knew something like that was coming, and it was pretty brutal...but the entire tone of the movie made you feel that the ending wasn't going to be good.

I thought Penn was better in this one as well. The scenes with Naomi Watts were painfully realistic.

I just thought that the ending was a bit too brutal for me. Could left a bit more too the imagination and not shown all the gore.

Wow, a lot of 7.0 and above... man, you like EVERYTHING!!

Well, the problem is, I really try to rent good movies, and not crappy ones.

I doubt I'll ever see a 2 on my list, because I just wont go see a movie that's that bad

And to me, a 7 is almost just decent...nothing amazing, but not average...

5 is pretty bad on my list.

Saw three movies today...

Wedding Crashers, Hostage on DVD and Coach Carter...

Coach Carter was great...Hostage was decent...seemed a bit long to me.

Some movies to add to the list, which were great.

The Machinist with Christian Bale...very good movie, kind of spooky, and amazing what he did.

The Upside of Anger was great as well, the most I've enjoyed seeing Kevin Costner in a movie in awhile.

Oh wow, this may be lame of me, but we rented Stripes too, never seen it before...heard it was hilarious.

My wife and I were bored to tears, and never finished it.

I didn't think it was all that funny...

No surprise there...

Stripes not funny, Upside of Anger being enjoyable after so many Costner disappointments--i.e., Open Range was a disappointment? And yet, you went and paid money to see Wedding Crashers...

Wow, I think you just inserted the word "disappointment" in a place I didn't use.

Just said, he was enjoyable again, and it was fun.

Open Range was a great movie, but I wasn't like loving Costner...

Wedding Crashers was frigging hilarious....

We saw the Perfect Score this weekend too...I don't think it deserves it's own thread, but I have to say I didn't know Scarlett Johannsen was in it so that was a pleasant surprise.

That role for her seemed a bit like Angelina Jolie's role in hackers...played a "punk girl" type character, and then moved on to bigger and better things...like Scarlett has.
