I want Asante Samuel as a big name, then we need to fill out the roster with several mid-tier solid guys that will get more reasonable contracts.

Bring in an OT, LB, FB, TE, PUNTER,

I don't think there's any way Belicheck let's Samuel go... He's a top notch shut down corner.

Isn't Marc Columbo an RT anyway? He doesn't play on the left side for the Cowboys. Flozell Adams does.

I like Nick Harper, he isn't great but could easily step into our starting lineup.

I don't want someone who can just step in because we are so bad at corner. I want someone who can take our CB position to the next level. Our biggest weakness is at corner and if we can solve that we will have a playoff caliber D.....

That would be great but it's hard to find those guys. The new rules have really exposed most corners in the league. I really like Samuel but he is going to cost an arm and a leg.

I think I wait a little longer to see who resigns with their current teams. I just find it hard to believe, after getting Edge last year, that we are going to end up with another big name player like....Samuel or Briggs. Those guys are not going to be easy. I am just going to wait to see the announcement when they are signed before I think about it, or I will start getting all worked up and excited.

Exactly. I think that it will be like last year. One name and two or three young solid players.

Maybe something like CB Samuels, LB EJ Henderson and FS Grant

A couple lower profile guys I like:

Justin Griffith (FB)
Kris Dielman (G)
Andre Gurode (G)
Deon Grant (FS)

Samuels had a career year and is not worth the $. Harper is a Cover-2 corner and would not do well one on one.

Money isn't an issue, I think Samuel has progressed every year in his career and is now showing his true form. There aren't a lot of options for CB this year.

Well, I would say you could bring in, at least, Griffith and Grant for the price of Samuels. I also feel that this was a career year for him and doubt he will do so well next year. If we want to overpay a corner go for Clements who is also a return man.

I'm not arguing that you could bring in several players for the price of Samuel, but those players will not neccessarily be of the same quality. Grant is a pretty average FS IMO. CB is a position of great need to this team and a position that has had a premium placed on it and Samuels is arguably the best CB available. I think it would be a good decision to pick him up and overpay some for him.

very good thinking!!! conceptually. i think we will spread the money around more than we did last year and not necessarily look for a home run...maybe two doubles....if you know what i mean...we are loaded with guards and i don't think fb is a top need....i like grant...it is far too early to tell what will be what but i would rather see some better than average quality guys that only one home run hitter...particuarly with a new staff coming in....we might get some better insite from the diversity of the new assts.

I've always wanted the Cardinals to sign Josh Bidwill.

That way when the yahoos come on here and gripe about Bidwill I could ask them what our punter had to do with contracts and personell decisions.
