I just heard on Sirius Radio that Jack has now admitted he might have to have microfracture surgery on his knee in a few years:eek:

Ugh!!! That's terrible news for this kid because he's got HOF skills. I personally wouldn't draft him now before round 3 knowing this. That surgery has ended plenty of NFL careers.

Would you then trade back into the 2nd round for more picks and maybe he is there in RD 3.

Whenever I hear the word "microfracture" I think of the shell of himself Amare turned into a couple years after the surgery. Jack may have to redshirt like Smith?

Wow, sucks for him but I'd actually take him if he drops to #29. Our window is now and he would be a HUGE upgrade over Minter. If he does have to have the additional surgery in a couple of years then but we have won a SB then a small price to pay.

Can cover RB's and TE's and is a top notch blitzer and pretty much every pundit has said he has top 5 talent.

I'm taking Jack at 29 and Jalyn Smith in the 3rd rd if he's there.

Not from what I've heard. His knee is fine right now but the concern is that the meniscus looks like it might separate from the bone down the road.

They've made a lot of progress in that procedure since Amare had his done. Clowney just had it done so keep an eye on him, see how he does.

In a few years is the key word. Any player could need micro fracture in a few years. Hell, a players career could end tomorrow. Unless he is having the surgery now, I don't see him dropping very far.

Personally, I know he has all the potential in the world but that's based off of 2 years in college where he put up decent numbers but nothing like potential HOF type numbers. I think he's overhyped.

I wouldn't hesitate to take him if he falls to us. Great talent that can do things very few LB's in the NFL can do. As long as he doesn't need the surgery immediately and our doctor's say he "might" need it down the road, I think it is worth the risk.

Great college player but I think you might be going a bit overboard calling him a huge upgrade over Minter in his rookie year. Till this guy proves to be Lawrence Taylor, I would hold my horses so to speak but I get the excitement of what the guy could be if he holds up... but just a cornerback who could be solid with better instincts than Bethel would be better for the here and now in my opinion

Jack lined up as a CB in some games in college. :) That and at RB and LB and he walks on water. Seriously, the dude is a freak and will make a HUGE impact this year on the Cards.

You don't want issues hanging over a top 10 pick. You have legitimate options that high up, so Maybe not!

The Browns will take him at 8 and his knee will explode like a rear-ended Pinto. And the cycle continues. :D

I hope he goes high but I do suspect he'll slide. The rumor on UCLA boards is this is why Jack shut it down and withdrew from school. That when they did the tests on his knee he was given 2 choices, rehab come back late season or have surgery. The recommendation was have surgery with an outside chance he'd be able to play again at UCLA.

But AFTER they did the surgery they realized the knee was much worse and advised him to shut it down and turn pro because coming back for even one bowl game at UCLA was a risk he shouldn't take.

No idea if true there are rumors like this all over the place on draft day but when he admitted the other day he might need surgery in a few years I think he probably guaranteed he slides.

Hope to be wrong I want him to get a top 10 contract and have a terrific career, great kid.

I think everything you said, Russ, is 100% accurate. So glad to have you as our Pac-10 guru.

Yep I think Russ is dead on.

I obviously don't know but it makes lots of sense. AS I've said before after jack got hurt his mom was posting on Bruin Report Online(a UCLA board) and she hinted that it might not be the last time Myles played for UCLA. Since it was well known he was going to turn pro that implied he was going to be back in time to play in a Bowl game.

Then less than 2 weeks later, maybe even a week I don't recall, Jack withdrew from school. A bunch of people were mad saying the mom shouldn't have posted what she did but I think if you follow the rumor it makes sense.

When she posted that it was indeed one of the options, either rehab and play again that year, or have surgery and POSSIBLY play again that year. After the surgery it was clear that playing again at UCLA was a bad idea. He needed to start rehabbing and training for the draft the next time he played a football game he had to be getting paid for it.

So it sure as heck makes sense.

The interesting thing here is now Jim Mora doesn't look like such a jerk for saying what he said when Jack turned pro.

he basically said I love the kid I hope it works out for him but he's taking a very big risk. he literally said he's throwing all his chips on the table and going all in but NFL teams find anything questionable and they will back off. He said he was very concerned that Jack only played 3 games his last season and having been in the NFL for years he knew how NFL teams think.

I wonder if he just got lucky or if he actually knew Myles had a knee that was much worse than being let on?

I hope he goes in the 2nd round. I was actually half hoping we would pick him at 29.

Heard John Clayton on the Doug & Wolf show this morning talking about Myles. Said all teams got the current updated medical report and knew about his situation which is he may need microfracture surgery. Clayton said Myles remarks on this didn't hurt hime as they already knew it.

Anyone thing Jack will be there at 92? If so, you think the Cards take a chance with him?

I doubt he will be there. He will be picked up in the 2nd round and give him a chance, even with the risk of the injury
