Apparantly, the Dbacks were deciding between the three - and it was very close.

Well, Miley's numbers in AAA were decent, which I think is an accomplishment in that league. I guess they decided he could handle the pressure the best. But his numbers before AAA were suspect, even though the core things you look at like K/BB and walks were decent. He's a guy that will fit in with the rotation, I guess -- he's going to throw strikes. You hope he keeps the ball down and keeps it in the ballpark. It's nice to have a lefty who throws strikes to see what he can do.

Yup... would love it if all he can do is eat up some innings... ;)

Can only take it a day at a time and see what happens. He will do his best. That is all you can ask. Tip you cap to him.

I know they didn't want to rush Bauer, as he has done a LOT of work this year already during sUCLA's season. But man, I cannot wait until he hits the 5 man rotation, he is going to be a blast to watch.

These three guys are the future if they all pan out, obviously.

That should never be a reason to not promote him. Just his extra throwing alone is a season's worth of pitches for a lot of guys. I'm of the opinion better get as much as you can out of him while you can -- just in case he's very wrong on pitcher arm/shoulder workload.

Miley deserves the shot, but there's no question the spot will be kept warm for Parker and Bauer near term. I still think Skaggs is a year away.
