Miller released a statement that if true completely proves that 97cats is wrong. Miller said he was stunned to learn LAST WEEK about the allegations against Book.

Why do you care whether he’s right or wrong?

Either way, Miller, Robbins, & Heeke put their balls on the line with those back-to-back-to-back statements. Sounds like after a week of internal investigation, reviewing evidence, and letting the emotion die down, there’s genuine feeling that the program is compliant sans Book’s actions.

because everyone who told him they were skeptical were ripped for not believing him. I didn't buy it from day 1 and I think it's been proven now to be untrue. Just once I'd like to see him take credit for being wrong as well as he takes credit for being right. IN the past when he's wrong the standard reply has always been to accuse the school who got the kid of cheating. That's his standard MO if wrong, he says the other school bought the recruit, i was right but the kid got paid.

He's the one who spread the rumors Kansas was buying Josiah Turner and the HS coach was steering him there. Turned out the HS coach was the only one involved who actually gave a crap about Josiah's academics and he got ripped for months by UA fans because 97 told them all the coach was the bad guy.

He has insisted for years that Cal paid Ivan Rabb's mom to get him to go to Cal, even though it was well known in the Bay area that Rabb had been telling people for months he promised his mom he'd stay home until his brother graduated HS.

Not even a week ago he posted as fact that Adidas paid TJ Leaf's dad 150K to decommit from Arizona and go to UCLA.

Now it seems pretty apparent he's not just wrong, he made this up to explain why he got the Walker recruitment wrong, and to make Miller look good with UA fans who believe everything he posts.

I'd just like to see him tell the truth this time instead of just ignoring it or saying Miller is not at liberty to tell the truth, which is the 2 most likely things he'll do.

Meh. Who cares? I’m wrong all of the time and rarely offer mea culpas. Just message board talk.

yes but you don't then accuse someone else of cheating to explain why you were wrong. I don't mind being wrong, everyone is wrong, i don't like the mean spirited defense he takes on every time he's wrong on something.

If you go back and look you'll see I brought this up during the Josiah Turner stuff, I semi know the coach, he left Sac High in 2016 to become an athletic director at a charter school in the area. He took a TON of flack from Arizona fans, and Turner's mom for how that all went down and in the end he was 100% right and nobody ever apologized for blasting him. he got absolutely destroyed for months on social media by Arizona fans and he didn't do a thing wrong, unless you think him telling Turner he still had to go to practice and attend classes a bad thing.

There's a story out today about the referee who worked the UK loss to UNC in the elite 8. after the game 2 guys on a UK radio show and message board started questioning his calls, alleging he was biased, and then eventually went as far as encouraging their listeners to call the guys roofing business and complain to him. and they did, in droves, they got so many calls from Kentucky it shut down his business lines. They got so many 1 star reviews on his website they went from the top rated roofing company in the area to the lowest, they had more than 100 fake bad reviews posted by UK fans in a couple of days.

I think people have to realize the power of message boards and radio now and not be so irresponsible, especially people like him who by reputation are given the benefit of the doubt. People assume what he says is true, even when it makes no sense at all. Most people get he's not going to be right everytime on a recruiting situation, he doesn't have to come up with an excuse when he's wrong, he just does it because of his own ego IMO.

The recruiting fall out continues as Simi Shittu cancels his visit this weekend and will be visiting VANDY & UNC. I wonder how long it takes for the final verdict to be handed down to UA, the longer this thing takes to unfold the longer they will be shunned by recruits. The FBI has everything on Book right?

Im sure Miller wasn't in contact with recruits over the past week. Now that he's addressed it with a resounding backing by the President he'll get back out there. As of now three guys are still committed and they won't give up on Shittu, Bol and Little.

It'll be imperative for Miller to convince these kids not to sign anywhere in November. Shittu and Little are still guys who're in play provided the stench wears off sooner rather than later. Today's statements are a big step forward.

An aside, people keep bringing up Bryce Drew of Vandy in UCLA coaching talk on UCLA boards. I've never quite got it, his religious side is completely out of character for a normal UCLA hire.

But I have to admit with his current success and this latest stuff Vandy suddenly has a chance to have an absolutely insane recruiting class for Vandy. They are right there with Indiana for the Pg Garland(UCLA trying not getting him) the SG Romeo Langford(was a likely louisville commit) and now in it for Shittu and another guy. It's a combination of talent who grew up around the area(Garland from INdiana played at Drew's came atValpo for years) and the fallout here is just pushing more kids right into his potential lap.

I've never totally got the hype on him especially when people blast Alford for nepotism and then want to replace him with aguy who played for his dad, coached for his dad and got his first head coaching job from his dad, but if he can close on these kids it will be by far the best recruiting class in Vandy's history. If it wasn't Vandy people would be accusing him of cheating like they have with his brother Scott Drew at Baylor.

I'm going to guess Little knows enough now to probably realize if he goes to Arizona or Miami it'll be awfully tough to clear because the NCAA will want him to prove he didn't get money and didn't know there was a bidding war going on. That's not the case wtih UNC so as farcical as it looks for UNC to be a good guy here, he'll probably go there.

I should add I'm glad Arizona made a statement but all they said is as of now this is what we think, it's a far cry from being able to tell kids they're out of the woods/

No idea if true but UK boards are starting a flurry of Twitter rumors that Shareef O'Neal is about to decommit and that he and Bol Bol will both wind up at Kentucky.

Another story out there saying UA is telling the FBI the allegation of 150K offer to Little is untrue, was actually generated by the FBI under cover agent telling Adidas they needed to come up with more money to get Little away from Arizona.

If true that would be a huge revelation that the alleged bidding war was actually invented by the FBI to try and further implicate adidas.

hard to know, the head of the AAU organization that Little played for was already arrested in this and part and parcel of that is the Little charge. Little's family and the people who run the AAU team have denied it happened.

The way it's worded in the allegations it appears the FBI is saying they have the exchange on tape involving the discussion of the need to pay Little more, but it doesn't say they have any offer for Arizona on tape.

Time for the staff to start working on 2019. The thing is Romar could easily get a HC job after next season so that could be another blow to recruiting the following year. The next assistant coaching hire to replace Book will be a big one. Phelps wasn't on Book or Pasternack's level. My first thought was Pastner but I keep forgetting he's a head coach at GT.

Yeah I have no idea about their next assistant, it's a huge decision as you said both because ARizona needs to hire a good recruiter, and because they need to hire a guy who looks "clean."

I think taking Romar is proving to be a great move. Initially one of the reasons stated was that Miller was doing everything he could to get over the hump and if possibly his personality made the players on edge, having a guy like Romar as a middleman might help.

Now when he needs to try and keep his current players and recruits from looking around, having that father figure reverend Romar type around to talk to them appears to be paying huge benefits.

assuming that was shareef?

There's another report out today that he's going to flip to Kentucky but if you read it there's absolutely nothing new there just another UK site speculated that one of the picks changing on Crystal Ball meant he's flipping.

What other stud recruiters with clean records are available? Romar is going to need some help and Book's future at UA is anyone's guess.

Shareef tweeted something like don't believe everything you read on the internet and Quinerly retweeted it. Nobody knows at this point if Quinerly will ever play college ball but if he does it's guaranteed to be Arizona. If they don't take his LOI while committed I don't think anyone else would touch him.

I'd be stunned if Book isn't fired. You can't go issue a statement saying you promote an atmosphere of compliance and then NOT fire a guy who did what Book did.
