I think Josh will use the Memphis job to prove himself, ala Jeff Capel and VCU, hopefully he holds no grudge against UA for the way he was let go.

What are you talking about? He has no grudges and he was not let go. If the UofA position ever opens up in the future, Josh would jump at it in a second.

I wrote a really long post and but I am on a shared computer and it got deleted when I went to save it.

So I'll just sum up my thoughts. All of you who are doubting Sean Miller at this point (What is it game 12? Give me a break) will regret it.

He's not Calipari who would have come in, greased a few palms, and made 26 an afterthought. He's a Program BUILDER. I am more then confident that even by the end of the Pac-10 season we will look back at this thread and shake our heads with how many were so quick to jump ship.

Why did he leave? He took the Memphis job for a reason.

Better program, better pay, and a higher assistant position, plus he got to learn under Cal for a year.

I love Paster, but he would be stupid to have turned down that offer.

As much as I crack on AU, Memphis was NOT a better program. Better pay for Josh, yes.

You have got to be kidding with this comment. We have enough trouble fending off the Devil fans on this board without people having a "A" avatar making comments like this.

They had a three year run under one coach who used that program to get a better offer. How they are a better program, I have no idea.

The reason Pastner left was a) stability b) money c) national exposure under Cal.

More stable program then? How long had Calipari been there bringing that program to the top, while UofA had been struggling a bit toward the end of Lute's tenure.

May have been a better program at the time.

Couldn't have UA offered all of that (with the exception of learning unethical coaching practices)? If he bled blue and red, why not just stay here and wait for O'Neill to be canned?

Better program at the time. Historically, no Memphis isnt a better program. However, Memphis was one of the top 5 programs over the last 3-5 years and was a Final Four contender. UA was hanging by a string to get in the tournament.

No brainer move.

They could have, but they didnt.

Paster could have been the associate head coach like Dunlap was. However, its hard to justify giving him that title with KO on the staff.

I know everyone is giving Miller the perverbral "break" this year, but UofA lost by 30 at home tonight...

Just throwing this out there... If they end up finishing in the bottom 3 of a horrific PAC-10 this year, does that mean Miller still get 2 more years?

I watched the entire game tonight, and wow, UofA just looks lost and poorly coached.. They are talented, but they don't seem to be disciplined, and no one seems interested in playing D...

How much of this goes on Miller, the talent is there, they have better athletes and overall from a basketball standard are more talented than this BYU team, but after watching that game, those two teams did not belong on the same court...

Absolutely he still gets 2 years more.

Look, we all hoped he could turn nothing into something, but is it a big surprise that he's having trouble? Not at all. We love that we have this big streak, but all big streaks are made to end, and our will this season. I don't see us missing the tournament 2 years in a row. But this year? Get the young kids some playing time--that will only help us for next year. This current team has some talent, but not enough to compete with better teams.

As for Nic? Well, I'm glad he stayed for the mentoring aspect, but his leadership IMO leaves a lot to be desired.

Miller will get three years regardless unless he goes off the deep end for the same reason Dennis Erickson will get another year after ASU sucks in football again in 2010 - money. That being said, he better make the Tournament in 2011 or he'll have a very hot seat going into his third year. The UA athletic department only works if McKale packs in 12k+ every night and the honeymoon period ends soon if not already.

Miller needs to recruit his balls off if he wants to continue getting paid like he his. Two McD's AA players visit Tucson next week, he had better get one of them or feelers will be put out to Pastner next summer. Remember - the new AD will have no ties to Miller and Pastner would probably come cheap.

I think he turns it around. For those of you who think we made the wrong choice with Miller (I don't think there are many, but just in case) consider that he made some major recruiting plays in the short months he had after he was hired. Including keeping Nic Wise.

It is ridiculous to talk about firing him now. He is 12 games into his first season with a team of nothing but freshmen. Everyone who is worrying about this now is completely overreacting.

The problem is a lot of our hyped recruits are not living up to expectations and there is no true leadership amongst the players. Miller needs to get them to step fast.

Ouch, as good as UCLA played against ASU in the first half they played that bad in the first half today against UA.

I guess I have to say something bad about UA so man how bad is that Natyazkho kid? He literally airballed a point blank putback in front of the rim. Lane's airball was at least a 3, not a 2 footer.

Love Derrick Williams.

Can't believe Howland didn't use the zone more, Anderson and Roll were absolutely torched off the dribble all game.

UCLA is bad. At least the Cats have young talented players excluding Kreal. This is a learning year but Miller just needs to get his guys in. Wise was not even a factor and the Cats had no problems with the Bruins. Williams is on his way to being Pac-10 FOY. Hill played very well and Fogg has his confidence way up since replacing Lavender in the starting line-up.

All I hope for this year is for the guys to improve and make some kind of postseason tournament.

Yeah I'm just baffled why Howland stuck with the man today. It was a joke watching Roll and anderson get beat off the dribble all game.

UA played solid defense in the first half but I think UCLA was mainly just so demoralized because they couldn't guard UA that it carried over to the offense too.

First half was just a nightmare with both Roll and Lee unable to make a shot.

I still like Nelson and Lane quite a bit. I think honeycutt has a chance to be really good but he's still very rusty shooting the ball so he has a hard time scoring if he can't get layups and dunks. So far Moser looks like a huge miss and Stover is redshirting so no idea on him. When you consider they lose Roll, Drago and Keefe it's baffling why Ben insists on playing Drago so much in a bad year instead of getting more minutes for Lane and Moser.

For a program that made it to 3 consecutive Final Fours a few years back, this must be so frustrating for Bruin fans. Howland has not done a good job in evaluating recruits as of late. I know they have had guys leave early but so have a lot of schools, including the UofA. It's amazing to see the difference the Cats have in athletes compared to UCLA. I wonder if Howland will be on the hot seat next year if he doesn't get this turned around?

Certainly a talking point with the fans right now. I still like the 09 class although I'm pretty unimpressed with Moser so far, but the 08 class was horribly overrated. Jrue not close to the hype, Morgan a bust, Gordon gone and Lee rumored to be going pro. Anderson might be the only one left next year(Morgan might be transferring) and Anderson has been a bust so far although he was playing better before this game.

I'm still hopeful if they convince Lee to stay they'll be much better next year but if he goes we're in trouble at guard again.

Everyone needs to calm down. I never advocated firing Miller or anything of the sort. Just that UofA fans know college hoops and realize that he's underachieved with his current roster. He'll get three years and get judged from there.

3 years after this one? or 3 all together?
