Asistant General Manager might be justified if there are too many details for the General Manager to handle efficiently. That's a line responsibility.

Assistant to the General Manager is superfluous. It's a staff responsibility.

If the D'backs are considering adding this level to the front office at all, they should first think of spending the money on the revenue producers -- the ballplayers -- instead of padding the FO staff.

Weren't able to lure anyone decent in here with the previous front office.

...Maybe Minaya can w/ all of his connections w big name players/agents.

Worth a shot.

The one issue with that is big name players/agents normally want big time contracts. While I didn't like Minaya as a GM it really couldn't hurt if he is just another voice in the front office. To me you can never get enough opinions and as long as he isn't making the final decisions then I guess why not bring him aboard.
