Pre season I would have said 7-8, but most important for me was that we saw the development of this young roster.
We are seeing the development of the young players. A bit ahead of time and with a higher draft hit rate than we realistically could have expected. We are 6-4 at the bye with the hard part of the schedule played.
I expect a 10-7 season, which would be a great success. If the team is competitive but loses more game and end 9-8 or 8-9 it would still be a success based on my expectation at the beginning of the season.

I think framing is important.
If we finish the season 8-9 it's going to be a mixed bag. I'll consider my preseason view and think that overall we made good progress, but that would be tinged with concern at having a losing record after the bye in the weaker part of our schedule, and yet again finishing the season poorly. Because we would have to go 2-5 from here to finish 8-9 and that would be poor. The team would feel the same way.
From where we are right now, we should be expecting 10-7 as a satisfactory season.

I'm still at eight. Eight from where we were is still a successful season IMO, which is only two wins away!
Anything above that number, with increased production from our rookies/young players and Kyler being more consistent, would make me much more confident in long-term sustained success.
But hey, if we make the playoffs, the future could be now.

I picked 8 (double the wins from 2023).
Yes, that would be considered success.
However, ending the year like we did in 2021 and 2022 would be very disappointing and diminish hope that we will be the 2025 Lions.

lol yeah this is what happens when you flash greatness. You have to consistently deliver. In all seriousness I don’t think 11 will be hard to hit for them given the schedule. Of course this is assuming they stay healthy.
Ill honestly be happy with 9-8 at this point. A winning record and great progress. Really all I can ask for. But of course I want more.

A 3-4 finish with a run of Seattle (home), NE and Carolina in the middle of it, would be disappointing. It would feel like too many other seasons where we finished weak after the bye.Ill honestly be happy with 9-8 at this point. A winning record and great progress. Really all I can ask for. But of course I want more.
I look at the season as a whole not segments. Plus division games are always toss ups. Seattle is talented. I of course WANT to win more but if we finish above .500 I think that's amazing progress for this team and its lack of perceived overall talent on D at the beginning of the year.

Sure, 9-8 is improvement and I would not be unhappy, at all, with the whole season. But, looking at the whole season, the easiest part of the schedule, based on current record, is ahead of us. It would be mildly disappointing to go 6-4 against a tougher part of the schedule and 3-4 against the weaker part. But who knows based on the details? If Kyler or Conner go out for the season on the first play against Seattle and we finish 3-4 that would be good considering.

I’m already happy. That’s not saying if we poo the bed to finish the year that I’d be cool with it but this year has brought things to fruition within the club that I’ve waited on since I was old enough to watch the team.
As far as demonstrating winning behavior goes, the two offensive and one defensive series following the hit on Kyler last week were the greatest non-playoff moments of their time in AZ IMO. Kyler takes a massive hit. Gets up smiling even though no part of it was enjoyable. I know I wasn’t the only one petrified of seeing him fold on the next pash rush. Handing the ball off on the next play seems like a no brainer, but so did throwing for first downs instead of four yards behind the LOS during the Kliff years, bringing a willing Kurt back for the playoffs instead of Lindley and someone, anyone on the cards sideline tackling, tripping or clotheslining James Harrison. In the next play, we say Kyler do everything we’ve hoped for for the past six years and he did it not only to perfection, but elevated even further on the next play with the TD. No fear, all balls. Prepared.
What do championship defenses do after a big score on O? They feed off it, sell out and keep the momentum. We’ve seen brief glimpses but not since Bowles’ D and even then it was very rare. That three and out, punctuated with Luketa’s sack was top level real teamwork, chemistry and commitment.
Finally, coming back on the field after such an accomplishment on the previous drive, and cards fan knows the organization has been fundamentally prone to slacking there. Instead, we saw crisp, intelligent, physically dominant play right down the field and back into the end zone.
I’m not saying we’re SB bound yet but I had been waiting decades to hear a regime prioritize culture and commitment and then follow through. The winning has been slow but the habits and behaviors have been evident in their steady improvement. That is what has had me enjoying the team so much this year.

In year 1 under Dan Campbell they went 3-13-1.
In year 2 they went 9-8 and barely missed the playoffs. The reason why 9-8 wouldn’t be considered a success for the Cards is bc that would mean we finish the back half of the season 3-4.
When the Lions finished 9-8 it was different because they ended the season by winning 5 of their last 6 games. The progression of the team was real and carried over into year 3 when they proceeded to go 12-5.
Given our remaining schedule, I think we’d all be disappointed if we only win 3 more games.
