The biggest reason Teams lose is mistakes. Mistakes can skew our perception of the game.

A mistake changes decisions, situations, down and distance, ball possession and time.

Holding! Third and 1 suddenly becomes 3rd and 11. A bad snap from center loses down and distance. A missed tackle allows your opponent a first down.

The players in the NFL are professional athletes. Yes, some teams have more and better talent. But the bottom line is winning teams make fewer mistakes.

THAT’S where the problem lies with the Cardinals. Early in the year we were playing mistake free football. It allowed us to jump on teams and get a lead. The mistakes we made with a 20 point lead usually doesn’t hurt the chances of winning and certainly gets lost in the story of the game. Instead of discussing the dumb call in the 2nd quarter we are celebrating victory.

Mistakes causes us and the media to dissect every play and every decision. How many times is it said, “ that fumble cost us the game”? Which perhaps leads is to a dropped pass in the 1st quarter.

There’s not too many times a team plays a mistake free game and loses. It happens but it’s rare. These Cardinal have turned in a mistake riddled team. One mistake sometimes costs you the game. A multitude of mistakes turns you into what we’ve become… an inept and dysfunctional team.

This team has shown the ability to play with the big boys. Stop the mistakes and we will start winning again.
