You mean Matt Flynn...who was selected in the 7th round?
Yeah that was dumb. I'm fighting this massive cold trying to prevent pneumonia. I meant Ryan. It's not that I feel that's Trubisky's path, it's just that the skill set seems similar. It's probably 100 to 1, but it's there.

I think that any of the top 4 could flourish in the Cardinals offense with a year under their belt. Keep drafting some young OL will be key as well.

What I see the Cardinals doing is saving CAP $$ to maybe go after Matt Stafford if the Lions flop this coming season. That's a big IFF.

Meanwhile we have Stanton.

Something proactive has to be done.

And he has just as great a chance to flop as Trubisky, Watson and Mahomes . Watson and Mahomes have elevated up draft consensuses the most that I could see. And with good reason, imo.

You could be right but I think its preposterous that Kizer seems to be the one which nobody wants to talk about now when he stands just as good a chance as those guys or better if one takes his 2015 season into account and the offense he ran :)

I guess I could see that...assuming everything went absolutely perfect for him. I just hate the idea of getting a 'developmental QB' in the 1st round, but then again...the draft is a crap shoot and nothing is certain.

And yet for the last 2 days Ive heard "Mitchell" several times. It cant be coincidence.

Yes. About 2 weeks ago he told the media he wants to be called Mitchell.

"Attention everybody, Id like to be referred to as Richard from now on, no more Rich, thank you."

yeah you got it Dick!

Ironically making announcements like this, requesting to be called your lamer full name will ensure most fans call him neither of those names.

If we draft a QB, be it Kizer my choice, Watson or even Mahomes, I am down with the selection because we need to make the attempt now, but I feel so many red flags about Trubisky it is not even worth mentioning. I do not doubt the physical ability but all franchise QBs have a certain mindset and this is a guy with one year experience, does not know what a hard count is, and is having an identity crisis with his first name... please Cardinals, stay away from him

So if none of these guys are worth a first round pick, and a lot of posters on here say the odds of getting a franchise QB decline drastically if you don't get one in the first round, yet we have put this off too long and need to get one this year, uh....

Yes they are worth a first round pick, because the value of the position has gone up since basically all the guys to come for the most part are going to be projects to an extent... the second and third round QB has become the 1st round QB because a polished 1st round QB cannot be had anymore in my opinion

I would rather see us at CB or wide out.

I would think that depends on whether those 2 position picks will make a difference and immediate impact in what might be a last desperate year with this crew. I don't believe any of those 3 options will be immediate impact contributors and I would rather see a QB in a sit down and learn situation.

Mitchell Trubisky had the advantage of working under Larry Fedora, an underrated offensive oriented HC/OC.

Yep, this. Pro-style offenses are rare in today's NFL, and you're not going to find a kid who started four full years in one. Every guy has his warts. Unless we absolutely tank and have a #1 or #2 overall pick, we're not going to find a completely clean prospect.

Over the years I have followed guys the Chargers drafted, and immediately looked at their combine write ups, and any articles about them prior to training camp just to get a read on whether I thought they may be helpful in the upcoming season. What I noticed is the pros in the players combine write ups make you feel they are fantastic. Then you read the cons, and you wonder if they can play football at all! LOL. So if a player turns out as a good player you always see people quoting the pro side of their combine notes. If the player is a bust they always quote the cons and go, "It shows in their combine notes how bad they are and this team STILL picked this guy!" I watch the Senior Bowl practices where the guys in the draft play against each other, and you get a better read on the players IMHO. Plus their tapes are probably a better indication of how they play in games.

I guess I take some of what these NFL analysts say about these guys with a grain of salt.

First thing I noticed when comparing write ups from player to player is that the scouts tend to check off various traits - like good vs. the run...aware in zone coverage - & then create descriptive sentences to make each check mark sound like prose.

Second thing I noticed were subtle differences in adjectives - i.e. the difference between "very good run defender", "good run defender" and "willing run defender" (When you see the phrase "willing run defender", it means that the prospect may suck vs. the run, but that he tries hard).

If you're looking for a burner, you don't want to read: "good top-end speed"/you're looking for "elite top end speed" or at the least "very good top end speed"

Reading between the lines to note slight shifts in verbage, you can learn stuff about a draft prospect.
