Its called getting something for a player you dont think you can re-sign. Or you can just get nothing.

Boldin has 3 years on his deal but I dont think people are being honest withthemselves if they think he wont cause an even bigger fuss next offseason, or as Boldin stated right out of his mouth when asked about his performance this season,"It will be hard for me to focus." The whole I will just play out my 3 year contract stuff is complete bunk. No way he waits until he is 30 to try and get a new deal. Either he gets a new deal or he gets traded next offseason without a doubt in my mind.

We will get a new deal done at the end of the year...no doubt!

my hope:

No deal.

Get proactive (and serious) toward working out an extension (Translation - Get the 2 sides talking now, and keep working at it until Q is happy).

This team is quickly moving into George Allen Country (i.e. "the future is now!)

MJ also said that the Cardinals most likely will not trade Boldin this year. They feel that Boldin is a necessary piece if they truly want to make a playoff run. MJ agreed that trading Boldin this year makes no sense as it will not help this team win today.

And that's the bottom line. Making the playoffs this year. Anquan isn't going anywhere. Put all the rumors to rest.

It's going to be an active off season probobly though.

You and I are on the same wave length. The NFL season wouldnt be an NFL season without a good Drew Rosenhaus upset client story. Plaxico Burress was gonna be that story, but that ship sailed.

The question is Do the Cards want to go ahead and get the extra first round pick now? If we keep him for another year with plans to trade him at the end of the year and he gets hurt again we may not get a number one cuz teams may view him as damaged goods. Especially cuz he has missed games before.

What really gets to me is the Cards need to resign players next year that are available for FA. AW wants a new deal too along with Dockett.

How in the world can Q expect a deal so early after he signed an offer to make him happy? I read almost all post on the topic here and in other threads. Any Q supporter I've read has no leg to stand on. I thought the game at least had something to do with being loyal and wanting to win to keep the home crowd happy.

A Q trade seems mind boggling in a sense that things change at certain points of your life. I was very happy when Q got his deal as I was Larry's. Now it's either Larry or Q that is the bad guy in this, with no respect of the future of the team other than wide receiver. My feelings of Q are the same, I don't know the Bidwills or Graves so it doesn't hurt me to hear Q lash out. But the Cards to me are bigger than one player and if Q wants to go, I like him alot so whatever makes him happy, just don't leave yet.

Q will play lights out and so will Dansby. Too bad it's for the wrong reasons. If I had their talents, I wouldn't play for anyone else but the Cards.

They had a Quan interview on ESPN this morning and he basically said he thinks things have gone too far and he doesn't see himself playing here much longer. Wouldn't be surprised if he were not here this season. He even said something like "if I'm still playing the game in a few years I don't think it will be here."

Which is almost a threat that I may retire if I don't get my way. I still think he's reading off a Rosenhaus script but this is getting pretty serious he's making a very serious effort to make himself so annoying we get rid of him.

You honeslty think we are going to pay one WR 10 Mill a year and another 8 Mill a year? You honestly think a Wiz coached teams wants to spend more on WR's then any other team in the league? You honestly think we are somehow going to find a common ground from the 2 Mill more per season with no gauranteed money we offered last all the way to the 8 Mill per season Boldin wants to get? That is a mind boggling gap between what was offered and what is wanted.

Ahhhhh the old Whis won't let us pay two wide receiver argument.
I think Whis feels Boldin is more than just a wide receiver. Notice in the following quote he says "football player" not receiver or wide receiver.

"Nothing's changed from where it was a few weeks ago," Whisenhunt said. "I feel the exact same way about Anquan. He's a good football player. The Cardinals have extended his contract once, tried to do it again and our intent is to do it the first chance we get."

Now if Boldin holds fast to the trade me mantra, who knows what happens. The only place he hasn't made an appearance yet is the Weather Channel. I halfway expect he'll show up there next and talk about how he hates the weather in Arizona and demanding a trade. :(

Coaches say that sort of thing all the time. He also called Shipp a good Football Player. It is just a saying, nothing more nothing less.

I dont know Joe --

with the salary cap going up double digit %'s seemingly every year -- what looks like outrageous money for a player even two years ago seems pretty reasonable now.

The Colts -- a fairly conservatively run organization in a small market have fit Manning / Harrison / Wayne / Freeny / Sanders into their cap --

It will force some tough choices. It means Edge gets cut next year and Warner doesnt return. It means Eric Green and Antonio Smith are allowed to leave via free agency -- with DRC and Campbell / Iwebema stepping into those roles.
