I'll take the every day player. Goldschmidt gave them a very fair deal last time. Pay the man! You can sign another #2 SP at least. Ray, Corbin and that signing would be a decent staff. Or jettison Pollock and keep both.
If ARZ keeps both Goldschmidt & Greinke, they are not going to be able to pay for a #2 SP the way prices have skyrocketed. Goldy would bring more in a trade back than Pollock, taking Haseley would have been sent a signal that maybe Pollock is on the block but then again maybe ARZ is high on last year's top pick Anfernee Grier who plays CF. Point is long term decisions on Pollock, Goldy & Greinke will need to be addressed.

Of those players Goldy has to be the one to stay. Based on age, health and value he would be the guy to keep. As much as I like Grienke they have to hope he continues to pitch well this year and look at moving him in the offseason.

I could see trading Pollock at the deadline based on the fact that the team hasn't missed a beat since he went down and his history of injuries. That Hurts to say cause I'm a huge AJ fan.

Yes Greinke has to be moved. There is a large potential for a extreme drop off in performance in the near future and he still has a significant amount of years left.

I watched the Virginia-Dallas Baptist Tourney game - Duzenack was the one player that stood out to me in the game.

Yes. I would keep Goldy (face of the franchise) 1st, and try to keep Greinke. If you can't keep Greinke....then signing another #2 should be the goal along with keeping Goldy. Pollock might be odd man out in any case. No real contending franchise would let a player the caliber of Goldy bolt if at all possible. Try the rookie in LF in the minors, he can always switch back if needed.

Goldschmidt is signed through 2019 (team option for $14.5 million in 2019) and won't hit free agency until 2020 when he will be 32.
Pollock will be eligible for arbitration in 2018 and then hit free agency in 2019 and he will be 30.
Greinke is signed through 2021 earning $35 million and he will be 27 at the end of his contract.
Tomas is signed through 2020 and at that point will be making more than Goldschmidt

I doubt Pollock or Goldschmidt get re-signed. I didn't realize that Pollock will be 30 when he is free-agency eligible. Maybe he would take a small discount for a long term deal but I don't know if that is in the team's best interest. Goldschmidt has been playing under the most team-friendly deal in the majors and must be thinking about getting a big payday.

Best case scenario is Greinke plays out his contact like Greg Maddux/Curt Schilling in their later years. Tomas gets unloaded to an AL team. Dbacks keep contending through 2019 and then hit reset on the roster.

Pavin brings value as a consistent gets-on-base guy like Ichiro. Then Goldy, Lamb or Pollock can bring him home.

I like the pick. People are too infatuated by homerun guys. Moneyball got it right. Wins = scores = bases = hits.
