That is interesting info. Regarding Goldy, it just seemed like the entire month of July and the first week or so of August, he was horrendous in clutch/leveraged situations... Other than that period, it seems like he's been pretty steady...
The whole team has been poor this season in particular critical situations. We are second to last in scoring a runner on 3B with less than 2 outs and we are second to last in scoring a runner from 2B with no outs.
Yep... But again, it really seems like those stats came crashing down in July and maybe a week or two of August. I could be wrong, but the first two months of the season, and the past week to 10 days, it seems as though the team has been acceptable in leverage situations...
I honestly don't know, but it could be an up and down of performance in these situations or it could be that the team performed so much better in other situations that it masked these particular failures during that time.
Kinda like the article claims, if the worst thing you can say is Goldy has a 900+ OPS in "clutch" situations, then you're looking a small nits to pick. It also could hurt us in a short playoff series though and look really bad.
Our best late inning hitter has seemed to be Daniel Descalso. He can play a variety of positions and he bats lefty. He is truly a super sub and a clutch hitter with the game on the line.I definitely think this team (and Goldy himself) have some proving to do in the post season - should they get there.
Post season baseball is filled with intense, clutch/highly leveraged moments... Should be interesting to see who on this team steps up...

Descalso with a 3-run pinch hit HR to open up the game ... in Coors Field, where that is a necessity. The man is magical.Descalso leads the team in "clutch" with a +1.91 and leads MLB, while Lamb is second on the team with a +0.89.
A rating of 2.0 is considered "Excellent".
