You always smell the Thanksgiving game. Last year it was against the Lions. FOX and CBS always schedule this game against national-draw teams, regardless of how good the Cowgirls and Lions are.

Cowgirls T-giving games, last three seasons: Chicago ('04), Miami ('03), Washington ('02).
Lions T-giving games, last three seasons: Indy ('04), Green Bay ('03), New England ('02).

Miami was a playoff team, as were all three of the Detroit opponents. Washington is one of the biggest rivalries in sport, and there was the first year of the Spurrier regime. The networks have nothing to gain by putting on "garbage" opponents in these games, just because there isn't an alternative for audiences other than to turn off the TV and spend time with families. I think that they do try and schedule good teams, because there's no profit in showing a half-empty stadium on Thanksgiving, and they need a good draw to fill up the teams' respective houses on one of the biggest holidays of the year.

The national games will come when the Cardinals start earning respect and interest. When the Cards showed some heartbeat after the 7-9 season, we had a couple nationally-televised games, and we promptly burned ESPN by being one of the worst teams in the NFL that season.

why? I think most people would look at that and DEMAND the NFL reschedule a Thanksgiving day game with the Cards in it at this point.

The NFL is the best ran sports league by far. The only criticism I have of them is the missed marketing opportunities of Thanksgiving and Christmas. On those two days a lot of Americans are in the house watching TV. With cable/satelite there are a lot of choices to watch unlike the days of 3 networks. People have other TV choices if the games are lousy. Currently on Thanksgiving due to tradition the NFL puts Dallas and Detroit on regardless of how good they are. The NFL should put its two best games of the week on that holiday to capture the young kids watching as a new fan base. Christmas should have the two best games of that week regardless of the day x-mas falls on for the same reason.

Agree BigRedMO

but I don't know how willing they'll ever be to break from tradition. They'll
probably stick with the two "norms" unless someone in PR and marketing see things the same way you do. It sure would be fun if the schedule were a bit more malleable and could switch on the run. Unless they just went by last years best teams with the best records. Because there's just no telling what games would be the two best until that part of the season rolls around.

Does anyone know when the schedule will be announced?

Early April...about 2- 3 weeks before the draft (which I think is the 23rd and 24th).

I don't ever want a home MNF game. Day games in AZ are great. No way I want to fight rush hour traffic.

Good point. If the game was in Sept. or October it would be a 5pm start like games in California. Heavy traffic, hotter n blazes. Can't see it.

Now a November or December 6pm start might be ok. Nah it's hotter n blazes then too.

Better wait until they get the new stadium open. :D
