I'm thinking they'll roll the dice with a project big man, but I haven't decided yet.

Blount would seriously consider them but then they wouldn't have enough money for Alston. Nelson would be a solid backup.

Draftcity's latest mock has Nelson all the way up at #8 (!), so if you believe that, he'd be an irresistable BPA pick at this point.

Their "plan" is to use their LLE for Alston and their MLE for Blount. In ancy case, Nelson would be good fit here if he is still on the board.

Miami needs to slide Dwyane ( fix that spelling Dwayne ) Wade to SG and find a PG. Bad draft overall for league and real skinny on PGs. I think Miami learned from Wade that taking a college mature player rather than a risky High Schooler ( Sebastian Telfair ) makes more sense. If Miami could take a big man, that would make more immediate sense but there are none, so Nelson is the pick here.

My real feeling here would be to make the reach and take Blake Steppe as the point guard. He could be next years Dwyane Wade. I like him better than Nelson. He is a strong outside shooter. A coach's son who played 4 years of Gonzaga ball and is big at 6' 4". He really can handle the ball and create. Some would think he is a reach, but I don't , and at 17 he comes cheap. Miami may need the outside shooting more than anything besides a legitimate center.

Steppe really fell off the radar following some poor early tryouts. He has is likely to fall to the second round.

Sorry, I'm a bit late moving on to the next pick. Had some other things to deal with this morning.

The Heat select Jameer Nelson.

I like Blake Steppe, but he is very slow. He's going to really have to speed up his shot if he's going to get it off in the NBA. Casey Jacobsen learned that lesson in his first season.
